Dear Matt,

On a more serious note, I have taken your comments on board & just come home stocked up with Vit B & Vit C enough for 30 days. Hopefully just the regulation will act as a spur to get through the first month.

I know it is not going to be all sunshine & roses but the achievement at the end will be so rewarding.... & taking a day at a time I hope to be where you guys are.... with a step at a time literally as I can see myself doing alot of walking over the next few weeks!!!

Once again... Thank you, & all here, for your support.

Hi all.

Good that you fight it through and this place is a good place to go.

In my case , as some of you know, I'm approaching my 1 year with no alcohol and I agree 100% with Don; either you drink or you don't,,there are no "in-betweens", because the only thing that "in-between" achieve is to fool you into thinking that you can "handle it" and that is a risky road to go.

To all new people in here I can say that you don't want to see my medical journal what alcohol do to you,,it is not pretty.

Just a small example; I was in the emergency room after a fall due to ice, not alcohol :), to X-ray my back and during the session of X-ray taken I could hear them say "wow" out back and it was not about my back X-ray, it was about my enlarged liver that literally obscured my other organs due to it's size.
Now enlarged liver is not an illness, just a sympthom that really shows that the liver is messed up.

So, I'm really glad to se so many manage and also put up the "fight" with alcohol. I also say that, like Apple Mike,:) said, that yes I miss alcohol, but do I want to go the road again with detox, medical in and outs, shortly; The Addiction. NO, never again.

I've never used any other drugs in my life, but this journey with alcohol as a "buddie" ended nearly a year ago and I have a "before" and "after", and it is no doubt what will be my road ahead.... :o)

Take care all and keep it up and you can do it. If you stumble and relapse,,, just try again and stand up.

keep believing in yourself. i drank away most of the 1990's and all of the 2000's . i have wasted so much of my life drinking. it somehow takes over.

the fact you have posted on here is a good sign. you say alcohol is the answer to all ills, which we all on here understand. we and you also know it isn't really true, as you said yourself. this belief is the part that keeps us drinking.

take it a day at a time and give yourselve treats at the end of the week, or each day if you prefer....buy a nice outfit, get a cd, hair cut, go swimming, something that makes you feel good about yourself.

excercise and good nutrition are a great place to start aswell. get yourselve some extra multivitamins and c and b vitamins aswell for a month at least. try and eat a good nutritious diet. keep posting on here as often as you need to. there is always someone on here to give some support (i have found this to be true, have been visiting the site since early january).

go out walking as much as possible.

this website is great too and full of helpful information. i recommend posting to the webmaster there, he was very helpful and kind to me...http://digital-dharma.net/addiction/post-acute-withdrawal-syndrome-why-we-dont-get-better-immediately/

you've already done so well going that whole week, i didn't manage to stop for good the 1st time i tried either, but as the saying goes...'if at first you don't succeed ...'. keep your chin up and keep believing in yourself.

Hi Hector, google "sugar alcohol withdrawal". Sugar causes insulin surges which result in mood swings and sometimes nasty headaches. Try to avoid, or at least, cut back.
