Hi, am new here and admit I have a drinking and stopping to drink alcohol problem. Its ruining my body and my life. I wish everyone good luck and succes in our battle to overcome the self loathing and selfishness that causes us to drink. :-(

I use milk thistle seed most days. I grind 3 heaped tablespoons of milk thistle seed up in a spice grinder until it is really fine and then I add 1-2–3/4 pint of boiling water to it, cover it, and leave it to stand for about 2 hours. Then I mix it and strain it and drink it. You can also make a milder infusion from the remaining ground seed by adding a little more boiling water. I do this daily.

I have hep c genotype 1a which is the bad one. I was on the interferon and riboviron tx until the side effects became so bad, my dr took me off the treatment. I started taking the milk thistle with phytosome and liv52. When my tx ended with the interferon, I still had a high viral load. After taking these herbs for a couple of months, my blood work showed hepatitis non detectable and 0 viral load. I first of all give credit to God, and next to these herbs, afterall, God put these plants here for a purpose. I feel much better.

gyps -
It would undoubtedly aid the recovery of your liver, however it would not rid the body of the virus itself.

I’ve just been diagnosed positive to Hepatitis C. I've decided to take a natural approach and avoid the Interferon due to the side effects etc. Would Liv 52 play a "key role" in the recovery process of the liver in Hepatitis C cases? does it rid the body of the virus itself?

I too have just discovered this site.... First time I've joined in, so I'll wait a while before I start imparting gory details - suffice to say I need & want to do something. I clicked on this link because I'm trying to locate supplements/vits to help with cravings and physical recovery. I live on a tiny island in the aegean - can get v*@gra over the counter at local chemist, but not a lot of natural stuff! I want to order kudzu and maybe LIV52 on-line - both sound beneficial.... can anyone tell me if I can take them at the same time? And a good source?

Hi there. As a new person on this forum I just want to wish everyone well with the battle against alcohol. The non-judgemental tone and honesty on here is a tonic in itself. Self loathing, blackouts, terrible lying, uninhibited behaviour turning into making a total t*** of myself and consequently having to backtrack, apologize, not to mention upsetting those who care about me has been a perpetual nightmare. This causes self loathing, shame, and hangovers can last for two or three days. I go for lengths of time without a drink, but when I think 'To hell with it!' and one or two won't hurt I'm back on the cycle, and can't stop until I'm seriously out of it, with all that that entails. I have trouble with the 'disease' concept, but am pretty sure that it is genetic as my father was an alcoholic, and my mother a heavy drinker whose personality alters dramatically after two drinks. I need to deal with this and the thought of an AA meeting is out of the question although initially it helped me. I have come to terms with being an alcoholic but as you all probably know the thought of never being able to pick up a glass is a tough one. I have been surrounded by heavy drinkers but not all of them are alcoholic. I'm scared of isolating and have managed one social engagement without alcohol this week which was a bit of a strain to put it politely. I rarely drink alone as that is fatal. Need to quit the cigs as well, but one thing at a time. I managed to stop cocaine, and marijuana just makes me feel paranoid and nuts now...so hopefully I'll deal with this one. All the very best, and I am so pleased to have discovered this site. Insomnia is a problem. Anyone got any idea how long it can go on for?
