Re: Positive Things I Notice/Achieve When Not Drinking

The warm weather is definitely much more pleasent when you are sober.
I used to sweat like a pig when it was hot. A. Because of the alcohol. And B. because I was overweight ( again mostly due to the alcohol).

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Well done Sue ( and all the others here). I have not been around much lately but that's not because I have fallen off the wagon. Currently on 15 Months. That is the second longest period alcohol free since I joined this site.

Re: NOTICE BOARD

Well done :\: I remember stumbling across this forum just after it started. At the time I felt like I was the only one struggling with alcohol. It was a great help finding and speaking to people who were going through the same thing. I've had a few stumbles over the years. However over 10 years, I'v...

Re: The First 7 Days

Morning all! Also a bit worried about the detox. What are everyone's symptoms?? Xx Hi Tinelle. You may be lucky and not have any apart the anxiety and the sleplessness. I could go on a 3 bottle a wine a day bender for weeks and not suffer any withdrawals. .. when I was younger anyway. The last few ...

Re: Ben trying to quit drinking after 25 years of binging!

Hello all, I have been binge drinking since I was 15 three times a week roughly. I am about to turn 40 and it’s going to cost me my relationship as well as my health if I don’t stop now. I have tried to slow it down but the problems are still there so I have committed to quitting completely! My big...

Re: New Members - Please Introduce Yourself Here

Good morning Tinelle and welcome back. :\: I think I have been here nearly 10 years as well. I know it sounds clichéd, but it really is best to take it one day at a time. Some of my longest periods of abstinence have come from "just one day off the booze". Then another and another. And before I knew...

Re: Liver Disease and Tests

I know it's an old thread. However I was wondering if anyone in the UK can shed any light on the blood test where they take 4 lots of blood? I had a blood test last year, early part which came back fine. However I had another in December (not related to drinking). It came back that my liver enzymes ...

Re: General Support and Chat

Hi charchar. It may sound daunting at first going to an AA meeting , but it really isn't. I've been to a few and if you don't want to talk. You can just sit back and see how these meeting's work. If you decide it isn't for you. There's no pressure to carry on attending. I went to a few meetings. I d...

Re: 100 Day Kickstart

Hi Trina. I used to get aches and pains shortly after quitting. They cleared up after a while though.I usually take a decent vitamin b supplement as this becomes depleted after drinking heavily.

Re: The First 7 Days

Day 1 here. 2 Months af then for some reason I go on a bender at the weekend. It was the dreaded red wine as well so now the withdrawals are terrible. Things have settled down a bit thankfully. These withddrawls get worse the older I get .

Re: The First 7 Days

Good morning everyone. Day 1 here again unfortunately. Managed several weeks then I had the "just a few for the weekend " thought on Friday. I'm sobering up at least. The withdrawals aren't as bad as last time but they still aren't much fun.
