Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Awww, lovely pic. I also have dogs.....as well as my horses they are my absolute world. 💕 I am picking up a whole lot of strength from some of your words......it’s REALLY helpful as we enter the season of partying and alcohol a plenty. Feelings of dread have enveloped me.....and permissive thoughts ...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Oooh, watch out for these season bugs - I’ve been floored! Ok now, and not a hot toddy on my radar! Very proud....I’ve missed you all though 😘 Hey Leslans, good work day 29! A little emotion is ok.....I think it demonstrates your strength of character to your friend. I’m approaching 90.....can’t bel...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Hello all, I’m sorry to not have wished you JJ a very happy 50th on the right day! Party sounds great, if anything like the ‘do’ situations that I’ve been in - people tend to not even notice what you’re drinking. You might have a few questions but then you get left alone whilst they get stuck into t...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Disaster......dislocated my hip - putting a lead on one of my dogs! That simple - it is a replacement, and been in place nearly 4 years with no probs. So, that’s me grounded for a bit (w) Think my inactivity (due ankle fracture) is a contributing factor. Deary me! Haven’t even considered having a dr...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Hello all, I’m just back from seeing my young horse (who’s at a pro’s event yard whilst I mend and get riding fit again) He’s looking fabulous, they are doing some amazing things together. Spurs (ha!) me on to continue along on my AF journey to be better both physically and mentally. I can definitel...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

JJ, competing with any animal requires such commitment doesn’t it. Just to take part is massive! Your time for silverware will come and each step to get there has to be commended! Each time I get out with my horse in my trailer, compete to a standard that I’m at least not ashamed of, and get back ho...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Hi Cherry, good to see you back! C’mon Mr/s spaniel , go strut ur stuff (is it agility?) Giving up the booze is not a guarantee of weight loss, I dropped a stone and a half pre soberness, and gained half a stone since - but haven’t been able to do much due accident so inevitable really - especially ...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Hi all, I feel your dressage pain Mackintosh.......hopefully you got some encouraging comments from the judges too, was it BD? JJ, I broke my ankle, bones are healed but all the soft tissue is still very sore, agony at times actually. Proper riding I can’t yet do.......sitting on my million year old...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Hey Mackintosh, how’d the dressage go? Looking forward to getting out competing again.....once my broken bits are healed and I regain strength and fitness. I do get so stressed though, maybe that aspect will be better with less ‘fog’? 44 days now for me but have had the feeling of a hangover all day...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Hi JJ! 28 days.....that’s amazing! I’m loving the wine glass containing cranberry juice idea....genius. (::) I have a black tie do in a week or 2 (already slightly dreading, it’s for charity but most are going for the partying) and I think this could be my drink for the evening! Would that work for ...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Yep, I get that completely....what you’ve said Leslans is the reason I’ve slipped back into old habits after fairly significant periods of abstinence.....really want to be able to never drink again. ()o

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Leslans, It really is a tough old road.....I really don’t think I’d have managed 34 days AF without reading some of the inspiring and supportive comments from this forum. I managed somewhere close to a year AF around 5 or 6 years ago, but fell back into it..........another spell around the same time...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Thanks for the good wishes Cherry, feeling a bit flat myself. Think it must be the weather? It’s been hurricane like here for just about 24hrs! Feeling the gin urge, avoided so far with hot choc........quite certain OH will still be celebrating (working abroad) the rugby score and won’t bother to ca...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Thanks Macintosh and Cherry.....good to be here day 31. If ever there was an event that would push me towards having a drink, it was tonight, and I didn’t. Discovered my OH has been drinking vodka secretly as well as openly drinking wine. Tired from the rows, stress and upset of it all..... As if it...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Patrick,
Keep busy, keep positive, eat well, ‘chat’ here! That’s helped me, coupled with a passion for ice-cream, hot chocolate and other indulgences. It’s not easy, but there is NOTHING like waking up, guilt free. Keep on keeping on, weekends are the hardest....
