Re: Sober April

Hi everyone. Alcohol-free is definitely the way to go. It makes you free of all that anxiety. We have enough anxiety at the moment without making it worse with alcohol. I know people believe it helps. But it really doesn't. I heard of the first death of someone I know yesterday. Not a close friend b...

Re: Sober March

I'm looking forward to joining in dry April. I did 3 weeks in January, then another 3 and have just finished 2 weeks. And in lockdown with my mum so in a good place. I'm going to the pharmacy and the co-op tomorrow but will not buy any alcohol. See you all tomorrow.

Re: Regrouping

A friend had a house party dinner and ended up getting plastered.
There were six of us. It was ok but we kept talking over each other and one of us hardly got a word in edgeways. It reminded me of work meetings. I was always hopeless at group meetings.

Re: Regrouping

I couldn't agree more sleepy. I'm on a farm and see no danger in going out for a walk 20 times a day because I've been sticking to the empty fields (well only one field in fact) but a neighbour has told us to stay out of the fields in case we touch a gate which might then infect a farmer who might t...

Re: Regrouping

I'm trying to get started with the online exercise. I've booked a yoga class on zoom. And managed to put YouTube on my TV. It's a fairly new TV and I didn't realise I could add it. I spent hours trying to connect my phone to the TV - doh!! I signed up for the Davina McCall thing about a week ago and...

Re: Regrouping

Hi everyone I'm lucky to be on a farm so can get out in the fresh air. I'm making myself go up a hill every day. But I'm enjoying it. Still haven't got properly connected to my TV to do online stuff. But I will. Things sound better with your job Tadpole. Well done for keeping going and I'm glad it i...

Re: Regrouping

Hi everyone I am doing fine. Confined with my old ma which means I certainly won't drink which is fine with me. Not sure about when I eventually get out on my own again though. But definitely not just now. All thoughts banished which is great. I'm having my first 'house party':on Sunday when we're s...

Re: Regrouping

Very sorry to hear you are having such a sh*t time tadpole. At work and at home. A friend of mine is also a nurse with 2 elderly parents - one with dementia. I'm not surprised you drank. But I'll bet it didn't help matters. It never does. Try not to drink on your day off. Over the past 4 weeks I hav...

Re: 100 Day Kickstart

Congratulations leslans. (::) (::) Very well done and you are right to remember how bad alcohol is for our bodies and even more so our minds. I forget sometimes and slipped back into having a bottle or two with friends or a bottle or two on my own. It seems great to begin with. I had my birthday at ...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Hi all I'm doing ok with exercise and food so far. When I'm on my own (ie not at my mother's) I have been having a smoothie after the gym at about 10.30 then soup for lunch and healthy supper early -by 6pm. I think I can sustain that sort of routine. I haven't had any bread (well only a couple of sl...

Re: Sober January

I remember the song January, harkwell. A friend of mine knows one of the band. They also had a hit with 'Magic' oh ho ho it's magic....never believe it's not so. I agree new year seems weeks ago. Only 2 short weeks. I feel I haven't had a drink for months. But I don't want one. Definitely not. I'm g...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Sheila, you still have to me to walk around the room a few times to make your 10k!!! I've decided to give Zumba a miss tonight. Too cold and dark for that milarkey. I've only done 7.4k today.

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Syrup sponge and custard???? Still - a lot better than a G&T. I've been extra good with my eating so far but it's only day 3!!! Feels like ages. I went to the gym this morning. And found out Pilates was cancelled. But I did a body tone class and rowed for 50cals (bored). Also went for a short walk t...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Hi everyone. I'll join you here if I may. I vowed years ago I would never go on another diet. Been on diets since I was 15 and I'm 60 now. However, I stood on the scales yesterday. I knew it wouldn't be good. I'm finding it hard to squeeze into my clothes. So something has to change. Ditching the bo...

Re: The First 7 Days

Morning everyone. Day 7 for me today. Longest for a while. So doing fine so far. My fridge is stuffed with healthy, colourful produce. I'm booked into the gym every morning for a half hour class to get me going. Have a brand new juicer so intend to get that whizzing this week. Have a good one everyo...

Re: The First 7 Days

Well done Condor - it is amazing how quickly we can feel so much better - with more energy/enthusiasm/ability - we lose all that when we are drinking. I'm on day 7 this time and feel a lot better. A new house is definitely an opportunity for a new beginning. I'm trying to get up courage/energy to se...
