Re: The Road to Abstinence.

That is great SS. You made the right choice. I would probably have drunk the wine. But you have cracked it. My update after a miserable few days, things took another turn when my 91 year old mother fell. I got called out at 4.20am and thank goodness I was sober (although I had had a few the previous...

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (No General Chat Please)

Hi bumpy. So sorry to hear you drank after such a long time sober. It's scary. I stopped smoking in 2005 and have never even thought about smoking since and I would never be tempted to even have a puff. I wanted to get to that stage with alcohol but it hasn't happened yet. Can you please post again ...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi folks Thanks for your responses and encouragement. I'm at my mum's now. We have electricity thank goodness but just had a heavy fall of snow. Thank goodness I got here just as it started because roads are in chaos. I'm still feeling weepy but have had some soup and I'm sure I'll feel better tomor...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Thanks Trojan! Yes I think it is the time of year too. I have no job but am fortunate to have money. I think the pandemic hasn't helped because I usually have trips planned. Absolutely nothing on the horizon for me. But I will try to concentrate on my health. Mental and physical. I just allowed myse...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Thanks so much TC. I'm hoping to pop in to see a friend on my way back to mum's. I'm still just sitting on sofa but I did a little recycling. I can move back into my bedroom after sleeping in a cupboard for 3 months. Well not a cupboard but a v small room. I'm really missing the cat already. I have ...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi everyone. I'm sitting in my flat in a bit of a state. I didn't drink for 3 months and felt good. Then for some reason I picked up again. I've had a friend's daughter staying with me and she has just moved out. I feel so low. And it was made worse by drinking yesterday and the day before. Why? I a...

Re: 100 Day Kickstart

Thanks everyone!!! I've not told anyone in real life so it is great to have your support. A lot of people in my real life actually think I haven't had a drink for years 😂🤣 I'm sad to say they are wrong but at least I've got a good 3 months under my belt this time. Keep going y'all.

Re: 100 Day Kickstart

Day 100 for me \:)/ \:)/ \:)/ So that's just the kick start! But I'm feeling good. So, again,to all of you at the start of the kick start, keep going and give your body a rest from the poison. It will thank you eventually. Well, in fact, it will thank you immediately. Your mind will follow. Try not ...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Oh SB. V sad to lose a pet and companion. But you are so right - it could have been an excuse/reason for some people (and us in the past) to drink. But alcohol would not have removed the sadness. In fact it would have just made you feel worse. And we know that. So grateful to be sober and in control...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Morning everyone. Last night I went to the theatre. It was an interview/chat thing with a chef rather than a play/performance. First time I've been in a theatre since March 2020. Found myself irritated by the fact the man sitting next to me didn't move along to the 5 empty seats next to him once the...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi everyone. Just checking in to say I'm still on the road. No detours. I'm going to try not to keep counting days. But I've got an app keeping track. I definitely do not want to go back to yoyo drinking. So stressful. My life is relatively stress free at the moment so I aim to keep it that way. X

Re: 100 Day Kickstart

Hi everyone. I'm jumping on here well into my kick start. Day 96 for me this time round. I've done 100+ more than once but this time I'm feeling almost relaxed about it. I haven't really wavered or given myself any permission thoughts. So here's hoping I can continue. For those of you just starting ...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi everyone. I haven't posted for ages. Lost the last one and couldn't be bothered to re-type. But I'm doing fine. 87 days or something. I need to refer to my app to check. Well done Sue. I'm like that with smoking now. I can't remember when I stopped and I never think about it. I currently feel in ...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Morning all. Thank you Pink. Good advice indeed. I must keep my guard up. I am much more at peace just now and do not want to risk that for a few glasses with my pals. It leads me to a bad place mentally and physically. I had a lunch yesterday with 'girls' from school - we're in our early sixties no...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi everyone. I've been popping in from time to time. Sorry to hear about your health Pink. But you sound philosophical about it. Definitely one organ of the body that can regenerate so at least there is hope that you can reverse things. I haven't had any tests. I certainly feel ok but who knows. I c...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Wise words Trojan. Hope you get back on track chirpy. I don't know where these urges come from. Sometimes when I feel good and happy I think a drink would be a good idea. Even when i know it definitely is not! Like today. I have got the bus to a lovely town and been on a short riverside walk. All by...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Morning folks. Just popping in to report that I went to the girls' lunch yesterday and drank........fizzy water. I'm so pleased and relieved. Nobody drank much. In fact if I had been drinking I would have wanted to order another bottle. And, as I said, I would have bought one on the way home too. I ...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

In UK we are too used to alcohol being readily available. Up until a few years ago you could buy a bottle in the corner shop at 8am. I would prefer to go to a supermarket. More anonymous and you could pretend friends were coming round after work. I'm not sure restrictions work because if you really ...
