Re: The First 7 Days

Enjoy dinner Zelda. And definitely have dessert. Pales into insignificance next to the calories of wine.

Re: The First 7 Days

Hi Apples, I remember you from last time. Seems things got a bit messy again. Hang about on here, stay around longer. Total abstinence is achievable, I am doing it after being around these parts 7 years. Female version of yourself, all the same traits, upset husband and totally mystified as to how ...

Re: The First 7 Days

Woken up something of a ruined man this morning. Exhausted, bloated, out of shape and laying next to a woman who is disgusted with me. The realisation dawning on me that I've behaved like a very unattractive alcoholic. On the plus side only one day left of work. Struggle through that and I get a cou...

Re: The First 7 Days

Spending the evening getting my balls broken. Not quite sure what she wants me to say. I can't change last night, I can only try to be better. I don't expect her to be immediately forgiving but it is true that a person without a drug or alcohol problem don't understand a drug or alcohol problem.

Re: The First 7 Days

Liberation. I'll take a bit of that. I'm gonna upset a few people if I do manage to become abstinent. It is practically bad manners to not drink good wine at a family meal or a celebration over here... But I am to going to remain a prisoner to this just to keep others happy occasionally. I suppose ...

Re: Triggers: how do you cope with them?

I’m feeling stressed and tired (very late night). And drinking thoughts are drifting in. Because a drink is SO going to help stress and tiredness. Fast forward to waking up sober on Sunday. Yeah funny though. I often drink when struggling with tiredness as well as stress. Weird really. Action point...

Re: The First 7 Days

Hi Apples. I have just done one evening. Someone on here recently said to be proud of the little chunks of good behavior, and not to worry too much about the "forever" bit.. in effect, today is forever as long as we don't drink today. You are making all the right noises anyway. And from what you de...

Re: The First 7 Days

Feeling very low but this feeling of self hatred is what I need to get me off the starting block. A PM from an "old" BE member has given me hope that it IS actually possible to stop and that it is nonsense to believe I will ever be anything but a drink to get drunk drinker. If I am totally honest I...

Re: The First 7 Days

Hi. Can't believe I've done it again. Worked hard, taken too much on my shoulders, let the stress build up and then boom, a 12 hour bender, intoxicated to the extent I had no real control on my actions, lost loads of money and have a seriously cheesed off wife who has lost confidence in me. I feel b...

Re: The Two and Three Month Challenge

Hi everyone. Day 30 or 4 weeks and two days. So it's working for me so far in that I feel physically good, mentally a bit sharper when talking to people in business and skin is a lot clearer/healthier. Since I've made the decision to quit cravings have occurred but less than when I wasn't so certain...
