Re: Sober January

Well done Scarlet! It's all the little things, which keep accumulating as you go on, that eventually add up to a massive improvement in quality of life.

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Low calorie - hmm! The name comes from: bubble = the sound of the patties frying in lashings of butter; squeak = the sound the cabbage is supposed to make as it cooks. I'd go for a fried egg or two on top, and several rashers of crips bacon on the side.

Ride it out Neal. Getting sober's all about your and your journey, after all. Meditation sounds like a greta idea.

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

tell me more about Bubble and Squeak Basically, it's left over vegetables, but I like it so much I sometimes make it from scratch! Mashed potato, or (better for flavour) the scooped out insides of baked potatoes. Sauteed onion, diced fine. Shredded cabbage or other brassicas. Mould into patties and...

Re: New Members - Please Introduce Yourself Here

Welcome aboard Andy. We each have our own tale of despair and damage caused by alcohol. However trapped and powerless you might feel (I know I did) there IS a path to freedom. The path's also very individual, so it's a question of figuring out what's going to work for you. Some people benefit greatl...

Congratulations Lucy Lamb! And thanks for coming back to post, it's so encouraging.

Deanna, don't forget the Bubble and Squeak, my favourite part of a home-cooked full English. Oh, and we usually have sausages too :D

Re: Sober January

My TV was also an LG! It's screen failure, and I've been told it's not economic to repair. I spent ages looked at specs and reviews. I've a narrow lounge and not keen on huge TV's anyway, so looking at the smaller ones. In the end I confused myself so much that I went out to look at them instore (en...

Re: Sober January

Morning all!

Weigh in today and lost a few pounds, so that's good. Mission today (New Year's resolve) to tackle the chaos that is mis-named my study, and to source a new TV, the screen having failed on mine - really annoyingly, as it's only three years old.

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Weigh in this morning (I started on Monday, but Sunday's a better day to review progress). 4lb down, which is a chihuahua (if it hasn't been eating too may pies).

Think I might give up the internet dating before I've even met anyone, feel like they're all feeding me a line or are creeps. Where do you meet decent over 50 men?
I don't know, but if you find out do pass on the info!

Re: Sober January

Just the thought of drinking that bottle would make me physically retch on the street as I carried it home, but once I'd opened it that first bottle would be empty within half an hour Yes, that brought back memories! I notice now that if I look at a glass of wine the thought of drinking it makes me...

Harkwell - I've found abstinence to be not only very much easier but also infinitely more satisfying... Zelda <:)> I didn't know this background. I'm so sorry you had so much pain. Alcohol's really pushed at us, all the time, as the way to cope with stress/pain/happiness etc. Once we realise what's ...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Awesome Katey, well done! Snuck into the scales this morning and saw an encouraging figure, most of a chihuahua in fact :D Not logging it though, Monday's my official day, and I don't want to start up with constatnt weigh-ins. I'm also not "dieting" as such, I'm just doing healthy eating and plannin...
