Re: The Road to Abstinence.

My switch off and reset is yoga and meditation, itsnowornever, for maybe 20 mins only?
Try legs up the wall along with a guided relaxation meditation - I know, sounds bonkers, but it’s lovely

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (No General Chat Please)

Hey postcard, looks like you might have to make some changes to your thinking if you want things to change ;) Could it be respect to the village loyal customer or the village idiot? ;) Things to try include: 1 day, or even 10 minutes at a time is how many people manage the urges to drink, when they ...

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (No General Chat Please)

Hi postcard and welcome Do you think you’d be able to speak to your doctor about what’s happening? Sounds like you need medical advice to check these are not serious issues and they may be able to put your mind at rest Can you identify what triggers you to binge? You must feel pretty rough for a lot...

An immersive experience I should think haha Got out of my usual routine of a little morning yoga and meditation and found myself stressed, eating badly, angry, worrying in the night...... Practiced yesterday morning, it’s almost like a switch being flicked This morn...

Re: Regrouping

I hope the day goes ok for you Tadpole Well done for talking to him I appreciate it could be easy to slip back Into the usual routine i think you can stop that happening, if you want. Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Thanks Chirpy and Action, I feel validated hehe Not boring cowboy! What happens to us when we’re young can be extremely influential in how we live our later lives I’m sorry you weren’t more nurtured Different generations were less enlightened to the effects of bullying, I think. It sounds like you w...

Re: Regrouping

You certainly have a lot to lose,Tadpole although you do always seem to be at work! Even if you were to lose half of what you have though, I’m not sure that would mean you would necessarily have to be dependent on someone else. I think it’s down to how expensive a lifestyle you want to lead and whet...

Re: Regrouping

Yeh I should think you’d have to face up to selling the house and splitting it or buying your husband out almost definitely Tadders if you were to end up getting divorced, unless your house was all yours to begin with? I guess whose name is on the deeds might make a difference, I don’t think the mor...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

So sorry to hear of your friend and nephew chirpy <:)> Shocking and sad :| Tai, I’m glad you are ‘ok’ It is a strange thing, dealing with grief and I know what you mean about the unreality thing. And there’s nothing you can actually do either is there? I guess that’s why some people start up foundat...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Sorry - David Nutts book is called ‘Drink?’ - the new science of alcohol+your health- and NOT ‘alcohol’ duh!
Currently resisting cookies left in the cupboard - those big ones. Just made it easier to resist cos I ‘voiced’ it ;)?
Someone else will have them if I leave them long enough anyway!

Re: Regrouping

I think you have to follow your heart Tadders Even if it doesn’t last with this new guy (although I hope it does), reading between the lines, maybe your relationship had run it’s course? Please look after yourself though, not sleeping or eating properly isn’t good for your health, as I’m sure you’re...

Re: Regrouping

Hi, hope you don’t mind me butting in, I often have a flit around, usually based on the ‘active’ posts tool Action you posted asking about the stages of relapse, and the idea that drinking thoughts are part of a process, rarely just out of nowhere ? I think it’s Steven Melemis’ work your thinking of...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Some great results and work in progresses here ;)? Taking on board your tips I agree Serend - that stone is hard and getting harder to shift In fact I’d be happy to shift 10 lbs and stay there. I guess I’m just not in the headspace to work consistently hard at it right now but my ‘norm’ seems to hav...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Sorry I’ve not acknowledged you cowboy, I do read then forget to answer sometimes I think it’s all a journey, there’s no fail. Once we know we’re a problem drinker and try to stop, it’s all trial and error until we find a way to make it stick. I used to think it was going round in circles but they’r...
