Re: The First 7 Days

Day 3. Thanks for the encouragement. Just need to let the days clock up again. Didn't get on with work today (w from home atm). I ended up sleeping this afternoon and snacking -but I've not drunk - or felt like it. The first seven days are all about getting through.

Re: The First 7 Days

Did 6+ months AF earlier this year followed by a period of moderation. But I have a difficult relationship with alcohol and hangovers are back in my life a couple of times a week. I now remember why I stopped drinking for increasingly longer periods. I'm uneasy with alcohol around. It feels like a t...

Re: Sober August

In for August. Will be 151 at the end of the month and 6 months at the end of September which will equal my best ever AF period so plenty to play for. Main gains so far: slimmer, fitter, better sleep, some really bright positive periods and no hangovers. Losses: some low moods, sugar cravings. Good ...

Re: Sober July

Well tomorrow I will have done dry July and been AF for 120 days. Been a very up and down journey but I'm hoping I'll hit another good patch soon. Hope you're still going strong Amy Jean, Trina and all. I'll see you all in August. :\:

Re: Sober July

Hi Sal I'd definitely benefit from those things. Meditation has really worked for me in the past and I need to build in a daily session again. Feel good today though- been walking with friends and then watching football. My running programme has really ramped up and I'm supposed to be doing 9 miles ...

Re: Sober July

115 days Amy Jean and Trina - you both sound like you're doing well. I'm very up and down atm.Previously I would have been drinking to block out the uncertainty around everything. I'm glad I'm not drinking but the uncertainty remains and I'm having some grey days where I feel a bit down and am too e...

Re: Sober July

Good to see everyone doing well. The dreadful weather is starting to drag my mood downwards.I've been doing ok with the limitations of lockdown but endless wet and windy weather in July feels like someone is playing a bad joke. I've started to call this month Juvember as it feels more like November....

Re: Sober July

Day 96.
Hang on in there nowornever. You know that sometimes life is hard for no good reason. Alcohol will not give you energy or make you happy and you do not want to go back to day 1 after all that work. <:)>

Re: Sober July

Been for my first lunch out in months. Met up with a few male family members for a walk in the Lakes then had lunch in a nice place (with people and everything!). A bit of real life again. And none of us had alcohol. Only downside is that I did that instead of the four hours of paperwork that I shou...

Re: Sober July

My uncle was a fantastic club runner. It was the most important thing in his life excepting family. 10 years ago he had some major health issues - heart bypass and cancer -and came out the other side. But he didn't go back to running because he couldn't compete anymore and couldn't face plodding aro...

Re: Sober July

Well done on your 10000 steps Danny. Daily walking has been a lifesaver for me over the last few years. I always feel better after a walk. Not sure how you can have a bike if you live in the third floor Amy. Is there a lift? Is there somewhere else to store it? You sound like my wife about going up ...

Re: Sober July

Yes cycling can be a pain in the a*** I've loved getting on a bike again but my bum gets so sore! can I ask you a question Amy- Why are you green and topless? I'm guessing you are into yoga or meditation. I've got one run to go on my 12 week plan so been looking for the next step for my running. I w...

Re: Sober July

I love your post AmyJean. Hiring that bike is an indication of all the small positive changes that will happen when you stop drinking. Those little things add up to a happier, more fulfilling life. Over the last 91 days I too have cycled half a dozen times which I haven't done for years, I started r...

Re: Sober July

I'm in for a dry July...91 days AF for me. Still get cravings most days around 5-6pm but they pass once I've eaten. After eating I get strong cravings for sugar rather than alcohol for a while. I am much slimmer and fitter though and I aim to keep going forwards until the daily craving recedes and a...

Re: Sober June

Good points Boots. I need to get back to meditating every day. Really need that inner peace it brings. Even though my target is 2 years AF I'm really looking forward to 100 days. At least then I'll have reached the end of the beginning. (Or the beginning of the end of the beginning of....(

Re: Sober June

Day 83 Quiet on this thread. Been reading some stuff about the amount of time being AF frees up and that one of the challenges of sobriety is finding ways to fill this time usefully. Also the emotional and mental health stuff that alcohol has been masking is all there to be dealt with. I am finding ...

Re: Sober June

Hey Boots! I was thinking about something you wrote about Being 2 years sober. I can’t remember exactly what you wrote but the jist was that You are in a different zone where alcohol has just lost its appeal and the cravings are mostly in the past. I’m on day 75 and Some days the thought that I will...
