Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

Day 12 and feeling good, I hate the fact something could change in a few weeks and something could just switch in my head out of the blue and I have a drink. No urge this time at this point though. Been watching the Euros football, must be the first time ever without drinking, could barley remember ...

Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

Hi everyone day 8 for me. Thanks Danny for the encouragement, Ace I wish I could have 4 beers. If I could, I would not see a problem. Last bender started with 4 cans then moved onto 3 bottles of vodka, a bottle of Jack Daniels and 4 cans of super strength all the way through each night on the last b...

Re: The First 7 Days

Hi everyone, I am on another effort, day 7. I have actually been experiencing 'phantom hangovers' even though I have been off the drink, from what I have read I must have been giving it some on the booze, well I have. Best of look to all. I am still after the elusive title of beating my all time rec...

Re: The First 7 Days

Day 7, Stewart I can relate, I have been up to ALL sorts on one of my binges. Sometimes I am scared to have one drink because I do not know where I will end up

Best of luck to all

Re: The First 7 Days

Thanks DannyD for the advice, yeah I am in a battle with alcohol and the alcohol is winning. In recent years my whole attitude to alcohol has changed at least I do not think it is the greatest thing ever like I used to do. Your all doing great.

Re: The First 7 Days

Here I am again day 3 and its a weekend. After achieving my second best effort about a month ago of 30 days I slipped back into usual habits. I need to get out of the frame of mind of what is the point. I am really mad at myself because my motivation was to save what I would have spent on alcohol. A...

Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

Hi all, I admit I am finding it hard as bank holiday (UK), not as doing much but its the habit I usually have more than weekends. Looking further ahead, football (not as that into football) Euros in summer if I can make it that long, habit of having a drink watching and I cannot stop when I start, t...

Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

Yes Woodstock stay positive, I am on the approach of saving what I would have spent on drink as saving anyway for a new car, that and being on here has made this attempt different this time. I don't want to break my number of days or effect my savings. I have been analysing diaries over the last 5 y...

Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

I am still going, on day 26, equalled my 2nd personal best for the fourth time. Aiming for 37 days a week of Saturday for my all time best and then hopefully into uncharted alcohol free territory, just better avoid having a drink to celebrate.

Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

Hey Woodstock, I have been back to the start many times. I am now aiming for my join second best in days which is 26 days done in 2006, 2011 and 2019 - I am a tryer. I need to stop drinking at 46 after going out drinking in my teens, 20s, 30s and 40s. In my city I must be the person who has gone out...

Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

Hi everyone, I first registered on here under a different user name (which I forgot) back in 2009. This is the first time I have joined in and it has really helped. I am on day 17 but the big achievement for me is that I have (almost) done 3 weekends starting with the Easter weekend which are my mai...

Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

Day 14 Equalled my best this year so far, my first step is to beat my personal all time best of 36 days I achieved mostly in November last year. The longest I have gone since I was 17 and I am 46. I keep diaries and I had no real reason to have a drink again. I even stayed alcohol free through Chris...

Re: The Next 2 - 4 Weeks

Smithster,

I would love to do 3 1/2 years and save the money I would have spent on booze, I would be rich.

I would also be very nervous of having a drink after this long, would have to phone the emergency services

Best of luck to all

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi everyone, To Kokoda I have been through hell in the past due to drink driving conviction(s), 16 years ago I was in a job where the people around me did not know I was banned from driving. I was out performing these people but I watched them all get promoted or moved to better jobs elsewhere simpl...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Trust me its not worth it, I have been there more than once over a decade ago, almost jailed. These days I have a very high outgoing on taxis. I know the pull of more booze is so powerful you feel you need more
