Re: Our kids

I can see both sides. When my son left for Uni I felt devestated and missed him even though I had a baby at the time. I didn't let him know this, however, as I never wanted him to feel any pressure. He got married last week and we have a wonderful relationship, comes round at least once a week with ...

Re: Cost/benefit analysis

Enfin, this sounds like an excellent exercise. Its all too easy to forget the bad side of alcohol and to glorify the good stuff. To actually have it down in black and white will certainly help to keep things in perspective.

Re: Two Week Challenge

Well done Kez for not drinking on your date. In the past when I've been on a date I've usually drunk almost a bottle of wine before going out; for dutch courage of course, then not remembered much about it. I always wondered why they didn't contact me again! Day 11 today and starting to feel stronge...

Re: Two Week Challenge

Had a lovely evening yesterday, just acting silly with my 12 year old daughter. We had such a laugh. Drinking makes everything so boring. Day 9 for me today. Keep going everyone on this challenge, we're doing well \:)/

Hi Digga, lovely to see you back but sorry things haven't gone your way job-wise. I'm back here trying for abstinence again. Fed up of this drinking lark, sounds like you are too. You did so well before. Stay strong <:)> <:)>

Good luck everyone.

Re: The First 7 Days

I carried on drinking right through the weekend even though I didn't want to. I knew I would though, without my daughter around to keep an eye on me. But she's back home from her school trip now and like you Bettyboo asks me all the time if I'm going to be drinking wine. Been feeling so down and ill...

Re: The First 7 Days

Thanks Unicorn <:)> Every morning I wake up with such strong resolve not to drink and gradually throughout the day I start getting scared of not being able to drink. Does that make sense? I just want to be where I was when I gave up for 3 months, calm, happy and in control. Its getting off the start...

Re: The First 7 Days

Failed at the first hurdle :( Been out and bought myself a bottle of wine tonight as well. Why is this so hard? Got to do it tomorrow as my daughter's back from her school trip. I think maybe thats the reason I've drank this week, because I can. I just hate alcohol so much.

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi Bettyboo, I can relate to your situation. I'm a single parent to my 12 year old daughter. Many times over the years she's sobbed uncontrollably when I've been drinking, begging me to stop. I feel so ashamed that I've ignored her pleas. OK, so I cut down for a while but not cut out. She's on a sch...
