Re: KEEPING IN TOUCH ON THE FORUM

Hi People, I hope a few of you remember me. I was quite active on this site a few years ago, but only occasionally look in nowadays. Nicky I remember you. :\: Hard to give advice really- but I found as sobriety became more normal to me, I just started to log in to BE less and less. Perhaps just have...

It takes 2 flies to screw in a light bulb.
No one know how they get in there.

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hello I haven't been on this site for a long time. Big shout out to all those I know. I'm 7 and a half years sober now. Well and happy. Just wanted to share this post from a lady who remarkably (considering her insight) is only 3 months alcohol free). I just love the idea that we can blame the booze...

Re: The Book Club

Ha ha! That could be me - I often find it hard to put down a book and end up reading far too late at night.
That slightly jaded feeling is a hundred times better than a hangover though!

My recommendation A Man Called Ove by Frederick Bachman.

Re: Positive Things I Notice/Achieve When Not Drinking

I don't feel so uncomfortable with people anymore. I'm shy still, but not awkward. Where I used to feel ill at ease without a drink, I am now often the person putting others at ease.
It's a good feeling.

Re: The Joke Page

From the diary of a Pre-School Teacher: My five-year old students are learning to read. Yesterday one of them pointed at a picture in a zoo book and said, "Look at this! It's a frickin' elephant!" I took a deep breath, then asked..."What did you call it?" "It's a frickin' elephant! It says so on the...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi Sandy Not my book, honest! These were close family ago knew me well. I suppose, really, I was feeling angry that I was being excluded, but angry at myself that I FELT powerless to say anything. Never want to be a killjoy! I realise now that i wasnt powerless and that i do have every right to make...

I happened across this site by accident many years ago when I had a hangover from hell.
It changed my life. I really mean it. Thank you.

Re: The Book Club

Hi CJ, I started reading this book last night (Unexpected Joy ...) and couldn't put it down. She's incredibly honest, doesn't hold back. I've just reached the point where she's reached her 'enough' point. I'd recommend it as a really good read to help you stay on track. Sue x Wonderful book. Actual...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi everyone, Forgive me for jumping in here, I haven't read any recent posts so I'm sorry if this seems out of context in any way. I haven't posted much recently and just felt I had to share something- a book I read recently. To put things into context - I am nearly 7 years sober and extremely happy...

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Lulabelle The hardest thing for me about quitting drinking was the change in relationship with my oh. I too felt very bitter ( jealous) that he carried on drinking. And also I missed our drinking together, so did he. I won't go into detail now , but it Did get easier. Lots of communication needed. R...
