Re: July General Support and Chat
Ah Caroline, I see. I haven't told anyone about the pill. I have mentioned that I am going to go tee total for six months. I thought if they questioned it I would just say its my decision to be tee total for six months. My life is better as I am concentrating on other things such as weight issues, h...

Re: July General Support and Chat
Tom, I think it's amazing that you're dealing with so many problems at the same time and still staying sober.I can't add much to the excellent practical advice others have posted, but I can send you one of these <:)> along with my very best wishes.I can also recommend Freecycle, I use it a lot and ...

Re: July General Support and Chat
Tom, was chatting with a friend who is an Insolvency Practitioner, and of course doing very well currently out of most other people's financial woes, and he mentioned a loophole which has not yet been closed. Student debt of course survives bankruptcy/DROs. But if you have access to any credit and ...

Re: July General Support and Chat
Tom PM me with your number and I will do a full financial health check and steer you in the right direction. I wouldn't be comfortable giving you or anyone online, my phone number, so I'll have to politely decline! As Day points out, why not post some links on the board for all of us to see? I thin...

Re: July General Support and Chat
Regarding posting information regarding debt help, it is a specialised field not a generalised one. People have different circumstances, different kinds of debt. Each case needs to be looked at in its own merit. Debts are different. Secured, unsecured, handed over, bought by debt collectors, bailiff...

Re: July General Support and Chat
Tom PM me with your number and I will do a full financial health check and steer you in the right direction. I think I should have re-written what I wrote re CAB. I don't like the CAB. I also don't particularly like CCCS as they are funded by the banks.........so guess which creditor gets their mone...

Beebee and Tom, thanks for the encouragement. Well done the pair of you.
Beebee, how did you manage to kick the habit for the past 3 months?
You too Tom?

Re: July General Support and Chat
Tom, have you considered a DRO? Citizens advice Bureaux are quite up on them , can give useful advice and they get rid of all debt. Likely of course to affect yr credit but mebbe the giff gaff PAYG option is not a bad one. It can't be the best thing to prioritise yr mobile over beans on the table a...

Re: July General Support and Chat
Good luck Denise! <:)> I am sure this is going to work for you. You sound so determined. Like you I have the 7-10pm window which I can find it very hard to get through if there is any 'excuse' - good or bad to drink. It is difficult for me to just 'be' at these times. Just wrote a lot on 'Just want...

Re: July General Support and Chat
Tom If you have issues with debt I can help you by steering you in the right direction. Peoples situations are different so having specialised knowledge is where you should get advice. It's what I do for a living. CAB is relyant upon who you come across on the day, their individual specialised knowl...

Re: July General Support and Chat
Well done Tom. You keep going. We are all in this together ;)? It's been a while since I was last on the forum. I have tried in vain to control my drinking and it just didn't work. I would at most go five days without drinking and then kid myself that I have a handle on things and a few days later w...

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (NO GENERAL CHAT PLEASE
Actually forget the question I just asked.
I have just read up about the drugs available to help with alcohol abuse and I am not impressed with their possible side effects.
Im just going to have to stick to will power.

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (NO GENERAL CHAT PLEASE
Maximus and NW Dave you have both made a positive step with your awareness. I too have gone through a big break up and my drinking slowly got worse. I have tried to abstain completely but can't seem to go past a week without drinking again. I am perfectly fine being sober. Positive, happy and gettin...

Re: Allen Carr's Book
I am loving it. I love the fact that he says the obvious that we do not normally consider. His writing style reminds me of me. When I explain something to someone that I am passionate about, I explain it in a way that makes them realise the truth and the obvious, I bring it to the surface. I work in...

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (NO GENERAL CHAT PLEASE
Hey everyone. Family still here and tonight was a night of dining out, tenpin bowling and movies. I had two drinks but came home to pick up a bottle of wine on the way. On the one hand I am handling it but tbh I am too fragile and sitting on a fence and am very aware of my fragility and that I could...

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (NO GENERAL CHAT PLEASE
I did only have two drinks. I am not sure how to play this whole alcohol situation. One minute I want rid. The next I think I have control. I do know this. Since my husband left 16 months ago I started drinking in stages where it would last for several days, or rather night after night. Thats where ...

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (NO GENERAL CHAT PLEASE
Hi Guys It's only been five days since my last drink and a trigger is already here. Im taking my grown up niece for dinner this evening. First I told myself I would not have a drink. Then I thought I could have just one or two. I have spent the last hour going over the menu...especially the drinks m...

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (NO GENERAL CHAT PLEASE
Hi Strongirl You are not alone. My husband also left me for what I had become and alcohol was a contributor. I am currently reading Allen Carrs Guide to control Alcohol. It is a good book and there is a thread on it in BE. In it he says DONT blame yourself, blame the alcohol. It's the alcohols fault...
