Re: I Will Not Drink Today Because..............

Goid reasons, all! I am rebuilding my life to be the mom I'm supposed to be and to stop siffering needlessly from someone who did us a lot of harm but who then simply skipped off into a new life without a backward glance. I sank into alcoholism. I will not drink today because probably for the first ...

Re: The First 7 Days

Morning all <:)> I think we all are here due to lack of off buttons. I would love to be the woman who has a small 125 ml glass of red every evening. I used to be part of a couple who had a 3l wine box and it lasted a fortnight between us!! Then it was a week. Then I was alone and it crept up. How th...

Re: What Has Made You Happy/Angry/Sad/Proud/Grateful Today?

Hmm, soberboots, I don't really know. I was thinking in terms of time I can use productively which otherwise would have been literally wasted. But it could also be longevity - I suppose it's just symbolic and we can use it however it means most to us. It's a silly thing, but it does actually help. M...

Re: What Has Made You Happy/Angry/Sad/Proud/Grateful Today?

Happy (even if a tadge silly) - The little app on my phone that gives me badges for each day AF, for each round number of "drinks passed", money saved, health benefits gained - and "lifetime regained" (the latter presumably some percentage of days AF - time otherwise wasted). It really is astounding...

Re: 100 Day Kickstart

Action, we've been thread buddies on another thread for years, and may I say - I've never heard you sound so well as you are these days. I know we all still have issues and giving up alcohol doesn't solve them as such - but it reduces the anxiety and this lets us tackle them - or prioritise or plan ...

Re: I Will Not Drink Today Because..............

Quite honestly, I have too much to do and too much at stake if I don't do these things. I am in this predicament due to having lost a lot of time some weeks ago so this is the simple repercussion of it and I can't run away from it. Starting to drink now would just put some of the last in my professi...

Re: Regrouping

Hi sleepy and Tad <:)> As you both know, being on/in the cycle is worse than keeping out of it. But we all know it takes motivation to get out of it. The consequences got too big for me (again) so I had no other choice, and having got to Day 6 now on a monday, it is easier to forge ahead AF. It's al...

Re: 100 Day Kickstart

Day 93/100. The thrill of moving ahead on the challenge seems to be gradually being replaced with peace of mind and self-acceptance. Maybe that's the real reward. No rush, it's all good. That's so inspiring, g-man. It really seems to be the case that mental balance can be achieved once the booze is...

Re: The First 7 Days

Hi all, Morning! Feeling unhappy with work, overwhelmed, lonely etc etc are all major drink triggers. Daphne - it's great you didn't open that wine - but I agree, put it somewhere. Gift-wrap it and put it somewhere out of sight - then it's a GIFT, not a bottle. If it's cheap plonk - consider pouring...

Dear all - I just lost a post by having to shut down my browser in a hurry when someone came in... So apologies if I miss someone - I'm writing this offline then briefly pasting in. Hedgehog <:)> I think we can all identify with the alone-ness. Tai, also regarding the feeling of preferring to be hom...

Thanks cowboy and SoberBoots. Cowboy, I'm so glad to hear you sounding so good, my trail buddy. Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Thanks for the warning. I have also relapsed out of flopped hopes or setbacks. I will indeed bottle this feeling of clarity now. I actually have an empty bottle that had some fancy bath oil in it. I also found a roll of purple ribbon at the back of the shelf prevuously cluttered with hidden stash/em...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Morning, all. It's a lovely crisp morning here, just perfect for how I'm feeling today. Action and Soberboots. I agree it's time to boot things into action - Oooohhh - actually I didn't mean that double-pun, honest! I use the word action a lot to myself and kid(s) - eg "action stations" "let's get s...
