Re: Cutting Down

Hi Wayne,
You joined around the same time as me. About a year ago. Keep up the struggle. I'm failing often, and not sure where I am with my wife now.... Mostly my doing.

I dunno why, but Canada is like that, they hate drinkers. I was in the airport minding my own business, sat waiting for a flight. They chained me up in a cell till the flight, cause I dosed off on the chair.
Help lines in other countries are OK.

Re: SOS - Post here if you need help (No General Chat Please

Hi, I made it back with some dignity. Back to the straight and narrow. Sofia, that's a funny story. But I would probably go in and they'd have to drag me out :D . Every stumble is tough, but with a little help from those close by, I can recover. We all can.... Never feel like your lost for good. You...

Not been here for a while. Went to a work party last night and the uncontrollable imp became... uncontrollable.
Feel like a sack of s**t. Desperate for more booze, but wifey has locked me in.

Hope I didn't get too embarrassing, first time my new colleagues have seen me intoxicated.

Uuurggghhhh....

Hi Tom, I felt quite pitiful reading your thread, don't want to hear of anyone starving on here. You could probably just about do it on 18 quid. Just buy cheap pasta/rice, tuna and tinned tomatoes; maybe some apples or oranges for vit C. Forget about wasting money on take-out pizza. Its just junk th...

I don't get much time to visit this site, now I have re-established myself as one of the great employed. And Asian working hours are not very .... European. Anyway, isn't it strange how people just vanish, what happened to Cowboy, Therattler and Digga? And how can Digga delete all his posts??? Has h...

Hi There BE44, Talking of privacy and BE44's appearance in Google search results, if you click "Who is Online" you will often see several search engine bots (Yahoo, Google, Bing). These are reading and indexing the pages. Since this site is sensitive I think the admin should consider protecting it a...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hi Chris,

That's the dilemma for us problem drinkers. To drink (moderately) or not to drink.

Can't help much, as I still haven't answered it for myself. Faced with insurmountable evidence that alcohol is Satan's venom that be my demise, something inside me still struggles to agree.

Re: feeling better after a night drinking

Dude, You sound too perfect! I suggest: tip a litre of vodka down yer hatch every day for one week, and see if you're still smiling. Just kidding... I remember before I became a problem drinker, I would spend Saturday on the town, and have so much fun, I'd laugh till I ached. I felt like I rea...

Hi MyKetG, For me, withdrawal got progressively worse over the years. I while back, I heard of a phenomenon called kindling that could explain it: "Kindling is the phenomenon where repeated alcohol detoxifications lead to an increased severity of the withdrawal syndrome." You can read about it on wi...

Hi sunworshipper,

Hope you enjoyed your moment. I do miss that Chinese stuff they cook in England. Not sure if you can find it anywhere in China, though

Need to see it as a one off, and get back in focus before your hols.

Take care

Hi Sunworshipper, I guess with that name you'll be putting in a lot of beach time. Hope you enjoy yourself ;)? , and manage moderation. Nothing worse than coming back needing another holiday  I start work on Monday. Quite excited, but will my brain still work after 3 months inactivity?.. Sure i...

Talking of AA, I was reading another recovery site/blog a few weeks back. There was a desperate girl who's boyfriend had a drinking problem (occasional benders followed by dry spells). She obviously loved the fella, and was seeking advice. All the AA w**kers were saying: "Dump him, get out, he's a l...

Went to the beach and got sunburnt.
Buried my first son in sand and took our baby for his first paddle in seawater.

Been a long time since I had a beach day. Coool. :D

Re: Detoxing Safely (Tapering Off)

Hi goinginsane, The library sounds like a good place to get your bearings, nice and peaceful. Keep it up. You sound like you're on the right track and have a plan. All you need now is the perseverance and determination. I know how tough it is. April I tapered off a 2 week bender. I was in my bedroom...
