Re: KEEPING IN TOUCH ON THE FORUM

Hiya I so rarely come to this site but was speaking with a friend looking for support with tackling their drinking and recommended here. It gave me so much support and I'm now over 5 years sober. Wanted to check it was still going. Reading through the thread, am sorry to see a double bereavement. I'...

Re: The 1 Year Milestone

Hi all, I seem to be in the habit of popping back here once a year to check-in briefly. Good to see people getting past a year, finding there's much good. But plenty of bad too and I can see all the posts about falling over, getting up and going on. What a difference being sober has brought me. Over...

Re: The 1 Year Milestone

Hi all...its going on three years since I last had a drink. After a couple of years of severe anxiety, depression, and other addictive behaviours life is so much richer and more peaceful than it ever was in my later drinking years. I never miss it now. And have bumped into a gent who I feel deeply f...

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Hello peeps Glad to see some old faces still going. Me too. The compulsion to drink left a long time ago. And left me with a clear enough head to start dealing with my other issues after I disappeared into a huge funk of depression and came out the other side. I am suspicious of the Redemptive Narra...

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Coo, SA - that sounds exciting. And warm.

I had a sauna on Saturday which is the closest I have been to decent heat for a while. Still sober, mood improving very well these days. Getting myself together on all fronts.

Take care all.

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Pickles nooooooo!

What they said. Plus noooooo! So, when constructing a persuasive argument you tell someone what you're going to tell them, then you tell them, then you tell them what you told them. So my persuasive argument is

No, No, No!

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Hi all, and bye Andy...all best. Support groups/sites work differently for different peeps don't they? And for lots I guess there may come a time to move on. I was always v wary in the few visits I made to AA meetings how you would get people with decades of sobriety still going over their drinking ...

I am enjoying the peace of an empty house for the first time in weeks today.

This silence is for savouring, not diluting with ethanol.

If— IF you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give wa...

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Reading all yr health worries, struggles with ageing kin etc and sending thoughts to all with difficulties. Its not the same for everyone of course, but it seems for many the problems and hardships increase as we get older. And it feels like the increased courage, acceptance and fortitude we need to...
