Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Sue, I assume you have asked the doctor this - the likelihood of it worsening in sobriety - and this is when you got the 'the chances are you will' (='you are more likely to''?) die of something else answer? Not very scientific, but he perhaps there is no more to say... :( re my own concerns, there ...

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

I can really empathize with this, Sue. <:)> Whilst I was drinking, I was terrified/half convinced I had a drinking related illness. I would peer at my eyeballs for any hint of yellow, obsessively look at my palms for parma erythema, and press them against a glass (to test whether that is what it is)...

Re: The To Do List

Danny, I am a bit like that in all things. I hate getting things wrong. It's one of my failings. (One of the (many) things I get wrong.) As you imply, sometimes it doesn't matter. But sometimes it does. I don;t seem to be able to distinguish the two sometimes. Good news re insurance! I was very busy...

Re: The To Do List

Morning. So far not going well. Massive argument with OH, train cancelled. (Phone changed to ‘brain’. Also appropriate.) Next one delayed. Headache and poor vision. Blurggh Yesterday was nice. We went alpaca walking. To do today Work Lunch out with colleagues? Planned but instigator (freelancer) now...

Sorry to hear that, John. I hope this yucky weather improves soon. (And of course, your neck and back.)

Re: What Has Made You Happy/Angry/Sad/Proud/Grateful Today?

How nice, Sally. I'd like to have a pond. We have a salml butler's sink sunk hin the ground, which usually has lots of frog in it, but a proper pond would be nice. Next door has one and we have had hundreds of damselflies in our garden as a result. Nicky could be a 50ish thing. But if we are referri...

Re: What Has Made You Happy/Angry/Sad/Proud/Grateful Today?

I am very happy I found a camera lens I had lost. I know this sounds trivial, but it was really upsetting me/bothering me. Apart from the fact that it was new and I want to take it on holiday, losing it just seemed symptomatic of my total disorganization of late, and, more worryingly, increasingly b...

Re: The To Do List

Nicky, it was a latex pillow that I had in mind. I had a Dunlopillo one years ago, and they had them in the apartment we stayed in on holiday last year. The one form years ago is still in the house, but it went very flat in the end. I am currently using two squishy ones, which on the face of it is n...

Re: The To Do List

I am waking up with the (pre)dawn, and if I don't, then Basil does and wakes me. He meowed loudly in my ear this morning, on and off, between 4 and 6. Not great when I didn't get to sleep until 2ish. What I should do (Basil issues aside) is get black out blinds and use a gradual dawn simulator light...

Re: The To Do List

I didn't sleep much (third 3-hour night this week :( ) but I did have a dream about making cheese. Oh hang on, there was another menacing/frightening/exciting dream involving someone trying to kill me. Not sure if it was part of the cheese one. I think it might have been. I seem to be in a vicious c...

Re: The To Do List

Husband is going to see an obscure French film at a cinema that mainly shows things that are old(er)/no longer on current release.
This merits an 'of course' if you know my husband ;)

Re: The To Do List

What a horrid dream, Nicky. I have not had that variant on drink related dreams. Maybe because everyone (at work) knew about my drinking? to do today: work book ticket to travel up north - visit to mother... afternoon off! lunch out with husband pootle around tour of an old music hall evening to sel...

Re: Music, movies and tv

I had a friend at post grad level who 'switched off' people's brains momentarily as part of his research. He once asked me if I'd like to be a subject. A polite 'no'.

Re: Music, movies and tv

I studied psychology for a year before switching to philosophy. Although I had a place in the philosophy faculty by the middle of the second term, I continued to study psychology until the end of the year (what as I thinking?!) and actually began to enjoy it :? Some of it was actually really interes...

Re: The To Do List

I guess I am unlikely to ever have a baby dream in that much detail, Nicky... :? I have two university dreams. One is that I am back at my last one, supposed to be doing research, but have done nothing for a year, and don't think I am able/intelligent enough to do anything anymore. (and I am sure I ...
