Re: The To Do List

I feel like I have a hang over this morning. A lot of pain too. Husband had a strop and went to bed (without telling me) at about 7pm, so had to prepare food one handed and medicate cat. Not very happy with him (to put it mildly). He is still in mood today. He doesn't want to discuss it but says it'...

Re: The To Do List

There is no way I would let him  I don't suppose he will make the curry I had planned which means veg going to waste. I was carrying compost that arrived this morning from the front to the back and just tripped. I spupose I am lucky I was not carrying one of the flagstones that came in the sam...

Re: The To Do List

It gets worse. The thumb was a trial run. Whole hand now out of action. I had really bad fall... Hope wrist is not broken.

Could be worse. Could have been the other hand.

Re: The To Do List

I am actually struggling to adjust to British Summer Time! I've been getting up early and starting work at 8.30 to finish at 4.30. We have been told to stick to set office hours. I now have another job to do too. (A fun one.) My pottering in the garden days may be over. Had a Wickes delivery at 7am ...

Re: The To Do List

Well there's the thing. To research cosmology you need to get to grips with all the Einstein stuff plus Quantum theory first. I took the plunge and asked if there was more work to do. I have been allocated to a project being managed by someone I have studiously managed to avoid since the alcohol thi...

Re: The To Do List

I need to start time tabling myself. So... to do: read at least three chapters of A Very short introduction to Cosmology. Read two mermaid stories. Maybe rewatch episode 3 of The Wonders of the Universe. It's about gravity and spacetime. None of this is very difficult (well maybe the cosmology book....

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Just generally I think the world is divided into those who dodge people and those whom those people have to dodge while walking down the street to avoid collision. This is the same, only the danger is not collision, but coming within less than 6 feet of each other ;)

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

I still have a lot of guilt from drinking nearly 8 years on. And I fear I deal with it, or don't deal with it, in the way I address all negative feelings - try not to think about it. I fear this is what my drinking was about really. Trying to numb it all. It doesn't consume me, but it's there. I thi...

Re: The Book Club

I bought her We Have Always lived in a Castle to vet for mother-suitability, but not really got round to reading it beyond a few pages. I acutally feel a little uncomfortable reading her accountof domestic life in view ouf her actual domestic life. I bougth a copy of Edmund Crispin's The Moving Toy ...

Re: What Has Made You Happy/Angry/Sad/Proud/Grateful Today?

Happy: being able to dry things outside = very nice-smelling clean bed linen.
Free socks in the post!
sad - mother's anxiety is increasing.
Greateful - grateful that I am grateful (still) that it's the weekend (in spite of being at home all week).

Re: Life Improvement Workshop

Hello I feel a bit of a failure on the work front. There was a lot of stressful tech stuff going on at work at the beginning of the week, which I was told not to action, but was still involved in it - webinars, floods of instruction emails. Not doing much about it will come back to bite me later, bu...

Re: The Book Club

Reading the binding really good I enjoyed that. It stayed with for a good while after I finished it, which is a good sign. After that, I read The Toymakers - Robert Dinsdale. And before it The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern. Aiming to read something less fantastical next, but dithering. I have mad...

Re: The Book Club

That's a bit rubbish re kindle. There are lots of out of copyright things online. Not so pleasantly formatted for reading, though. https://www.gutenberg.org/ You can also borrow books here. Not sure how it works https://archive.org/details/bringupbodiesnov0000mant/page/n9 https://archive.org/details...
