Re: The First 7 Days

Went to a party last night - no alcohol being served and it felt weird. As 'how can you have a good time without drinking?' So I just ate everything in site. I do seem to be eating more when not drinking. Is that normal? Today I am running my first 5KM run and will celebrate with a coffee afterwards...

Re: The First 7 Days

Yeah, I suppose I can write it off as a blip, but this was an intentional blip. Job stresses were so high yesterday on many levels and I purposefully planned on drinking last night just to have a break from it. I feel pretty determined that after 5 days AF that I won't go back to daily drinking even...

Re: The First 7 Days

This is Day 5 and is the longest I've gone without a drink in years. Keeping busy at night helps. Took my daughter to a movie last night 'Mirror, Mirror". It was hilarious. So I could go to bed as soon as I got home. No time for any mischief. The weekend is a bit threatening - lots of time to myself...

Doing everything I can to not be sitting on the couch at night with my computer - trigger, trigger, trigger :( Although, I'm sleeping better, I feel exhausted....is that normal? And I am eating ever...

Re: The First 7 Days

HI rcml Have you checked in with your dr.? They can give you something to help for the first little while.. I'm on day 3 and the only way that I've been able to 'cope' with the anxiety is with medication to help me through. Also a vitamin B supplement. Staying on this forum has been a 'lifeline'. It...

Re: The First 7 Days

Day 1 - went to family dr. and told him everything. I felt like a loser  Anyway, now have meds to help calm me down and a vitamin B supplement. Hopefully I can sleep now. Re: The First 7 Days

I can't seem to 'shut my head down' so I can relax and get some sleep. I have to go to work in 4 hours. My plan was to get up early and go for a run...but I didn't plan on this early. It's 4:00am here and I've already been awake for hours.

Here I am up in the middle of the night disgusted with myself. Can't sleep, crying, frustrated and lonely.
I need help. Is it really possible to stop drinking?

Re: The First 7 Days

Got as far as 4 days and felt fabulous. Then crashed.....now I feel sad, lonely and disappointed in myself. I don't know what to do. I have always had a hard time asking for help. I was raised being told that to ask for help demonstrated weakness and incompetence. I guess I'll try day one again tomo...

Re: The First 7 Days

HI,
I'm new here...from Canada
I've been reading all the forums for the past few weeks and am simply amazed at the support provided.

Today will be Day 1, I am travelling for the next 4 days which should help with this journey. It's the being at home that is the challenge.
