Re: The Road to Abstinence.

I'm sorry if I gave the impression of a bit 'holier than thou" Not at all Chris!!! I really value your posts and with 27 years + of sobriety under your belt I consider you something of a legend :D Expressing a degree of complacency (as I did) is going to set alarm bells ringing for anyone who knows...

Re: animal companions (aka pets)

Thanks guys, the dominance thing makes sense. It can't be sexual as the older cat is 'fixed' and they are both boys! Just need to decide what, if anything I need to do about it now :?

Welcome back Joy ;)? Pilurini, sounds like your living your life to the full there – lots going on. I'm quite envious, I need to get out more. Just off to watch last bit of Homeland - anyone else hooked?? Yes! It’s about the only good thing on the TV at the moment. Enjoyed last nights episode, c...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Chris & Cowboy - thanks for the warning, your absolutely right of course. I don’t believe there is a cure for Alcoholism, I firmly subscribe to the idea that this is an affliction that requires management through abstinence alone. I know I can never drink normally and I will have to work at sobrie...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Hey Katja, congratulations on 6 months ;)? you must be delighted with yourself. I too think I’m beginning to find some inner peace. It’s been a bad few weeks with anxiety but I seem to have made it through without one drop of alcohol. I feel stronger than ever. I have to confess, I have been thi...

Re: The Wobble Board

Hi FindingMe. Well done 10 weeks that’s bloody fantastic ;)? I find it helpful it take a mindful approach, accept the craving and wait for it to pass. Don’t get worked up thinking it means you will end up drinking, it doesn’t. Try and conjure up how shit you felt after your last drinking sessi...

Re: Weird Dreams

but I've been getting more and more laid back in my dreams. Last night, there was someone else playing, which didn't bother me at all. Any one have any ideas what that's all about? No sure DD, are you getting more laid back about it in real life? Maybe your subconscious doesn’t want you to play a...

Re: animal companions (aka pets)

Hi pet lovers, any room on here for an Ailurophile? I’m having a bit of trouble with my two cats and was hoping somebody could help. My eldest is 11 months old, he’s fairly laid back but likes his own way, definitely a dominate personality. We decided he would benefit from some company whilst we...

Paulette <:)>

I know what you mean about the later challenges not discussing booze as much.

It’s a good start that the wine didn’t taste very nice, and even better that you could put it in the cupboard. Can you throw it away now?

Do you think apathy is setting in a bit with abstinence?

Re: The Wobble Board

Wilbers, feeling grumpy now and again is perfectly normal and part of being human. It doesn’t need medicated with alcohol, just some decent food and a good nights sleep. Get through this and you will feel so much better tomorrow, knowing you have beaten this wobble alone will perk you up ;)? I bel...

Re: The Wobble Board

Wilbers <:)> Please don’t do it. You have come so far, done so well. Just imagine how p*ssed off you will be with yourself tomorrow to be back on Day 1. You have done the hardest bit, why throw it away now and start all over again? You have so much to lose and absolutely nothing to gain in having ...

For anybody wondering how long this lasts, my PAWS fatigue peaked between 2 and 8 weeks and had all but disappeared by 3 months. Obviously everyone is different, but it doesn't go on forever :D
