Re: The Confession Parlour...

Julie, a gem of a post (pun intended). Chicken, you stay strong today (use one of Tony's shields if yours is a bit battered). We need you here. <:)> Turtles, we can all relate to the frustration of disappearing posts. My carefully keyboarded response to Chrissie disappeared. I think this happens mos...

Re: Cutting Down

Caroline, have you checked out the Road to Abstinence thread?
It might be a good place for you to land.
Several others there whose goals is not to drink but find the challenges not quite right for them.

Re: NEW MEMBERS - Please Introduce Yourself (on the last pag

Wayne, welcome. You've come to a great place to find the support you need. Sounds you've got a bit of a head start on the new year. You could pop right in the 2011 challenge, or onto the 7 or 14 day challenges, mix and match if you like. If challenges are not for you, we've got lots of great threads...

Re: The 1 Year Milestone

Toony, no one here is feeling good about anything you are saying.
Are you aiming for a year without drinking?
If so, fine, focus on that instead of being the center of attention.
If not, this is not the thread for you.
I agree with Tony. End of.

Re: NEW MEMBERS - Please Introduce Yourself (on the last pag

Angela (sun1, right?) I believe the struggle for many of us in the "early days" is less about willpower than acceptance. It really helps to not put yourself in situations such as you are anticipating, where you say that you KNOW you will have to drink. I agree that friends should accept your not dri...

Sara down the drain. The waste occurred at the point of purchase.
Down the drain. I find the act of disposal empowering. Hope you do too. <:)>

It takes a bit time for some to sort out the sleep patterns, very common.
It's a bit irritating, but try not to worry about.

Re: Eating and Food Issues

Julie, I remember before you using the phrase "swallowing our feelings" and it made so much sense to me. Still does. Bev, the best thing for me is treat food a lot like alcohol . . . . don't keep the crappy stuff in the house. But it's tough to deal with that when others are around or I am working a...

Tets, hope you are feeling better today, luv. <:)>
I believe it can signal a breakthrough when we really truly acknowledge we need help.
It takes a strong person to acknowledge that. I say good for you. (::)

Re: Positive things I notice when I don't drink

Julie, I though about starting a thread for procrastinators, but never got around to it :D A positive thing about not drinking and work is that I seem to be able delay my reactions to negatives rather than responding immmediately and perhaps too impulsively. I still think the thoughts and feel the f...

The one and only momma kitty from Alberta. And the lovely Christamarie from Toronto. (I need to send her a message and see what she is up to.) There are a few others from the states I can remember but they have been scarce of late. And Polly in Mexico (who has also been a bit scarce of late). Kingsn...

Re: The 1 Year Milestone

Ok, Trying, are you going to make me guess your original identiy? Ok, 20 questions. Question 1. Are you from the south (US, I mean)? I do think you make a valid point about disruption being the point of the recent nastiness on this thread. It began with Unicorn and her/his unprovoked attack on Tink....

You'll make it Grit.
You name seems aptly chosen.
Some one is ususally around through the night, so feel free to post away.
If you are really struggling (hopefully not) post on SOS.
There are lots of threads to read through when unable to sleep, including one on sleep issues. ;)?

Re: Eating and Food Issues

Enfin, I don't have any thing better to offer than what others are suggesting. I did pick up this, though: all my issues are inter-related and feed off each other. This is a view I fully understand, and I think is largely true, at least for me and you. But I've moved a bit from thinking they all hav...

Re: Supportive Partners

Even though you sound a bit reconciled to it, it must be gut wrenching. Not a happy ending, but you never know where your decision will lead. I fear you could have remained stuck in a holding or even deteriorating position for a long time, and at least now you have a new world of opportunity ahead. ...
