Re: The First 7 Days

Day 7 1/2 for me and sober is better; MUCH better. Two dinner meetings last week and the wife and children out of town over the weekend and I stayed clean and dry. It is so wonderful to wake with a clear mind, no booze-related regrets, and a little more money in the wallet. Thanks for the support an...

Re: NEW MEMBERS - Please Introduce Yourself (on the last pag

Divine, Day 7 and I do feel great and I suppose it was me that chose not to put a drink to my lips for the past six days, but I can't take much credit for the accomplishment. I've experienced many awful results of drinking over a couple of decades, vowed to change my ways, and then very soon continu...

Re: NEW MEMBERS - Please Introduce Yourself (on the last pag

Hello Divine, You are not alone. I too thought that I was alone until I discovered BE. And by the way by BE discovery was Divine Intervention for me. I had been drinking somewhere between 5 and 16 drinks an evening for 25 years. On Thursday, March 24, 2011 I drank three bottles of wine while in solo...

Re: The First 7 Days

Congrats dougiealonso,

I'm finishing up Day 5 and feeling clear and strong. After living in the dark world of alcohol for more than 20 years, I never want to go back. After Day 7, I encourage you to go anywhere but back there.

Re: The First 7 Days

Three days clean and sober and am feeling strong and clear. Since I only drank in the evening and held down a job, I thought that I was a "fully functioning" heavy drinker. I've recently discovered that I was wrong on this. Yes I managed to make it through each day with a aching head and fuzzy mind,...

Re: The First 7 Days

Ken, You are a powerful inspiration. I've been here only a day or two and feared that my enthusiasm for breaking this awful, deceitful habit would be a flash in the pan. Two days dry and free and I still feel strong. I belive that support from you and others here is responsible for that. Of course t...

Re: The First 7 Days

Hello Dahlia, On my way back from lunch just now I was pondering the sabotage question and without much of an answer. I feel good now. Better than I've felt in years. My wife and children will be out of town visiting family this weekend and I'm worrying whether I will keep the plug in the bottle whi...

Re: The First 7 Days

Working on Day Two; wonderful to start the day with a clear head and without regret (recent regret anyway). I've been here before and it always feels good but I have always found someway to sabotage the progress. I believe for some reason it will be different this time. I suspect that knowing that t...

Re: The First 7 Days

Thank you L21, I am new to BE. I began my C7 challenge about 16 hours ago and am feeling pretty good just now. I do pray that whatever is running through my mind, body, and spirit makes a home with me. My plan is to worry about controlled drinking at another time; I just need to give it a complete r...

Re: The First 7 Days

Hmmm, perhaps you could create a suitable substitute. A brick in the bottom of a tall trash might do the job a keep the mess to a minimum.

Re: NEW MEMBERS - Please Introduce Yourself (on the last pag

Thank you Stu, I'm not that churchy either but I do believe there is a loving and forgiving God. Otherwise I would have been removed from the gene pool years ago. I tend to believe more in incremental improvement than in transformation, but I'm feeling pretty right and strong just now. I hope the Fo...

Re: The First 7 Days

Thank you MCx, I hope that I can feel this good, this right, and this strong for 6.33 more days. I've been whining about alcohol (primarily to my journal) for several decades. Seems that the very recent key was looking at the thing from the other direction. Instead of agonizing over the hardship of ...

L21, I'm praying that you can keep that cork in the bottle just long enough to break it on the patio.

Re: The First 7 Days

Hello San, For more than half my life I've tried and failed to be a social drinker. It might be possible for you but my personal data points strongly suggest that it is not possible for me. After reading "What happens if I try to have just one?" thread, I'm pretty sure that I don't really want to be...

Re: The First 7 Days

After 30 years of telling myself that I needed to do something about my dirtly little secret, I was led to BE late last week. If I did not hit rock bottom on my 51st birthday this past Thursday, then I was as close as I want to get. After a few hours of taking in the collective experience and perspe...

Re: NEW MEMBERS - Please Introduce Yourself (on the last pag

Thank you Ken, Fiz, Dab, and Aaron. I'm so excited now (in a good way) I can't stand it. My drinking profile is something like this: Start at 5 PM, have dinner, spend time with the children, help get them to bed at 8:30 and then get myself in bed by 9 PM; usually consume 6 to 10 drinks during this t...

Re: NEW MEMBERS - Please Introduce Yourself (on the last pag

For ~30 years I've been using a journal to document my need/desire to stop abusing alcohol and lamenting my failure to do so. Stumbled upon BE the day after I drank 16 while in care of the children while my wife was out of town on a business trip. Yesterday evening I had 10 and actually felt good ab...
