Re: The To Do List

I ended up doing quite a bit last night when I got home. There were four piles/puddles of cat sick to clear up. One of the cats (naming no names, Lily ) had trodden in her poo in the cat litter box and got it all over the 'lid'/cover, so had to clean that and changed the cat litter while I was at it...

Re: The To Do List

Not a bug for me, Action, I think. Just a psychophysical reaction to the weekend :o Streatham is very near to me too. I used to go there a lot, but less so since we moved a couple of miles away. It is still a bit too close to home, though. I think there was a sense that, when in central London, ther...

Re: The To Do List

It's nice that the table returned to it's place of origin. I suppose the house was rennovated by Brits and the ex pat community is not that big. Funny re your wallpaper! Mum's neighbours house is not all 'old'. They just left bits they saw no need to replace I suppose. He has been there all is life....

Re: The To Do List

House sounds interesting, AJ, but a lot of work? The house we have in France.... we bought a dining table for it, and it turned out the people who were selling it were the people who had renovated our house. (The table had been purpose made for it, so it came home when we bought it.) They gave us ph...

Re: What Has Made You Happy/Angry/Sad/Proud/Grateful Today?

Home, clean bedding, clean nightclothes, clean me, no commitments tomorrow, or, apart from work, in the coming week. Contentment. Relief.

Re: Tiredness and Fatigue After Stopping Drinking

David Sedaris made some quip (on the subject of his giving up alcohol) about how he'd complained to his boyfriend how much easier he used to be to fall sleep when he drank, and his boyfriend retorting that that wasn't falling asleep, it was falling unconscious ;) It does take a while to right itself...

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

I get very weirded out on the very rare occasions I hear music by bands which I like, but which no one else I know has even heard of, in public places. I suppose I have subconsciously taken a sort of ownership of the music. Plus some of it's tied up with whatever emotional states I had when I used t...

Re: The To Do List

Sorry crossed posts, Action. I am feeling very very anxious about trip :( Nauseous with it. This would have 'justified' lunchtime wine twelve years ago. (Ten years ago it would have been the default.) I am seeing an old friend, which will be nice but it's adding to the anxiety. Not seen her since 20...

Re: The To Do List

We had a factual error on the back of a dinosaur book (over 20 years ago.) And one book came back with the cover on upside down. The latter was probably an error that crept in at the film stage (now defunct.) You would get all the layers (CMYK and text black) in separate layers of slippery thin acet...

Re: The To Do List

And I am sure I have mentioned to story about someone who got King Cnut wrong on the back of a book. And it went to press. There was a sacking. Not 'my' company, but we have had at least a couple of things happening on covers that resulted in the pulping of a print run.

Re: The To Do List

Afternoon. AJ I had a friend who used to go and look at houses for sale, just for the fun of it. Not sure if you can do that now. In France, when house hunting, we had to sign something to say we were genuinely looking for a property to buy. Presumably to stop us wasting their time, which is ironic,...

Re: What to do instead of drinking

I love cooking too, but I have to say, it took a while to get used to it and enjoy it, without a glass of wine :? I read a lot more now. I booked myself into a fencing class aorund the three month mark, but then realized I just couldn't face it (strange people - too scary) and that it was triggering...

Re: The To Do List

Morning. Just a quick one from me. to do (in no particular order): work sort out catteries (awkward situation. Said yes to one, then preferred second one so said yes to them too. Need to say no to someone. And pay a deposit.) Will have to phone the no one too as she phoned me and left a message... :...

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

I think usually you have to prove that you are well into recovery. George Best was clearly not, so did he get preferential celebrity treatment? He had it on the NHS.

Re: The To Do List

Sometimes known as shepherdess pie, Action, but that's probably sexist/gender stereotyping.
