Re: The First 7 Days

Thank you for all your support guys. <:)> I didn’t make it last night ... my partner arrived home with his son after a day out and presented me with a bottle of wine as a thank you for everything that I had done the day before (and an apology I guess). He said it was like bringing me a bunch of flow...

Re: The First 7 Days

Hi Matha, Yes it was me. I was feeling very resentful that’s so true. Ironically we had agreed not to drink last night, which I was looking forward to ... being sober. I wasn’t able to escape the situation as his son was coming to stay and was arriving at any time but I will have to think of a strat...

Re: The First 7 Days

Oh dear. I messed up. I got reallly angry yesterday with my partner. I don’t usually express my disappointment or frustrations towards him, when they occur but I did yesterday. I couldn’t climb back down from that feeling and ended up resorting to the default coping method ...wine. How on earth do y...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Just reading through the posts and it reminded me of a time when I was younger, feeling very afraid and anxious. I used to take myself for a walk on the beach and stare out to the ocean. I used to think it was so vast, which led me on to think about a whole universe out there and that I was just the...

Re: The First 7 Days

That’s a tough one Avocado but you’re already on day 2 so that’s great. Well done for getting straight back to it. It’s something that you’ve learned and can avoid another time. ;)? Definite worth talking to your doctor about your difficulties sleeping. Is there anything that you can do to help you ...

Re: The To Do List

Morning Everyone, Congratulations on your 42 months sober John, that is fantastic! C25K is such a great idea. Not for me but I admire anyone who is prepared to take it on! Pickles, great news that your daughter may only have a few months left with her corset. She has my utmost sympathies as I too ha...

Re: The First 7 Days

Morning Everyone, Day 4 commencing here. A tricky day as my partner is staying but I have already made up my mind that I am not drinking. His son is staying tonight too and I don’t want to drink in front of his son, although he’s a grown man. But I know if I drink that I will feel as though I lose h...

Hi there PB&J.
Good for you ;)?

Well I’m showered, in pjs and fed ... now watching a film on Netflix.
Managed to meditate today and actually really felt the benefit of it.

Re: The First 7 Days

Sword and Sleepyb - silly me, the film is called A Fall From Grace rather The Fall of Grace! :D
Check out the series Virgin River if you haven't seen it, I enjoyed that!

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Totally agree with TC and JJ.
Be proud of yourself for not giving up. You should be proud of yourself; it demonstrates that ultimately you believe in yourself.
I don't want to give up either although I must be a veteran on this site by now. :?

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

I have managed short spaces of time sober but have buckled through a lack of confidence, returning to the default position. Now the time has come to face things and make changes. I’m not going to buckle this time.

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

I’m no expert as I’m still trying to remain sober Saturn but I am reading a book at the moment which suggests that you have to change your life to avoid slipping back into old habits. Baby steps, baby changes but maybe worth trying. For me I think it’s a process of learning all about myself all over...

Re: The First 7 Days

Well done Sleepyb for not slipping into the ‘end of day’ bottle of wine. We’ll have to think of immediate alternative relaxation techniques when we shut the front door after a busy day. ;)? Avocado - it’s surprising how easy it is to wake the evil bitch isn’t it. At least you’re aware she stirred an...

Re: The First 7 Days

Evening All. I hope you enjoy your walk tonight Katey. I love walking my dog and socialising with the other dog walkers. It's a great start to the day. I'm in the middle of cooking dinner - I'm starving. Got time for a shower and to climb into my pjs first...bliss! Trying to be gentle with myself as...

Re: I Will Not Drink Today Because..............

Because I am fed up with feeling crap, guilty, disappointment, etc, etc, etc! Because it's ok to feel emotions. Even when they're tough it's a healthy way to deal with things. Well said Avocado. Too much fallout trying to cope with emotions whilst drinking! I am looking forward to learning to cope w...
