Re: The First 7 Days

Hey sleepyb- day 7 - are you on the 2 week thread now? Hope you managed to ride the storm Neal. Day 2 complete here. Had a couple of wavering thoughts around 5 but my determination to stay sober was solid and it didn’t last. I am looking forward to being a few days sober when I hopefully won’t feel ...

Re: The To Do List

I survived! Spent time on a number of projects for mum and managed not to lose my patience. She even had the cheek to say I was doing well :lol2: Got there about 11:45 and got in at 7! Didn’t pass go and drove straight past the shop. Had tiny thought around about 5 but thought NO I will not let this...

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

And I tried to both solve the problem and still drink. I tried to square that circle. It didn’t work. It’s just life isn’t it? Learning, growing, dealing with stuff, trying to remember to enjoy what there is to enjoy etc. I tell you what though, it’s a hell of a lot easier to live life sober than i...

Re: The First 7 Days

Day 2 commences.
Didn’t sleep brilliantly last night and have the beginnings of a headache but pleased I’m not hungover.
Today will be difficult but I will focus on food, already obsessing about dinner.

Have a good day everyone. ;)?

Re: The Road to Abstinence.

Thank you for that post Tai. When I think back to my late teenage years I used to drink to be someone else, to have dutch courage and try to blend in with the rest of the world. What I didn't and guess don't, even now to some extent, is realise that I am different and that its okay to be different. ...

Re: The First 7 Days

Morning Everyone, Just came across this quote and thought that it described things for me whilst drinking. “Recovery didn’t open the gates of heaven and let me in. Recovery opened the gates of hell and let me out!” I think in the past I have expected things to miraculously change when sober but chan...

Re: The First 7 Days

So I haven’t managed to be sober tonight. It all sucks. I spent the entire evening eking out a bottle of wine so it would last me the entire evening. Didn’t enjoy drinking it - it was just habit and a fear of being sober. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it! Sobriety is exhausting but I know it does get...

Hi Everyone. Golly, such wonderful honest and reflective posts on here. I’m totally with you Pink ... I was feeling so low before reading this thread and I’m so desperate to change.
