Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Welcome to the fitness thread JFDI. Michelle is spot on in that you shouldn't try to do too much too soon in the early stages, staying off booze should be your ultimate goal and basically anything that keeps you abstaining is good. However try to limit the processed snacks, hard I know, and try to r...

Re: Animal Companions (aka Pets)

I thought the laws on docking had changed and that it was much more difficult to do these days unless you could prove that the dog was being used for sport, also that a Vet had to dock the animals. Quartering is the pattern that the dog moves across the ground to flush game Nic. They do it to some d...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Hi all, I'm still here, just lurking. If I'm honest I'm feeling a little disconnected from BE at the moment. Lots going on in my private life that I don't want to bore you all with, just family and renovation issues. As a result I am comfort eating. Still sober though which is the main thing. You al...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

The article I read basically blamed the current gluten intolerance not on gluten itself but on modern processing techniques as well as modern 'genetically improved' varieties of wheat that allow us to grow greater yields. They said to use more traditional varieties of wheat, such as spelt. It's also...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

That sounds like me Nic! My niece is possibly coeliac, she has Type 1 Diabetes and brittle asthma already so my Sister is trying to delay the endoscopy until they have spoken at least to a dietician. I know it can only be diagnosed by a biopsy but she has a hard time controlling both her diabetes an...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

I read an article on-line that totally debunked the modern tendency towards 'gluten intolerance', it was well researched and cited. I cannot for the life of me find it now though. Personally I don't believe that it is as widespread as people say. Zucchini noodles (Zoodles) are great and I eat them i...

You sure you're not getting a migraine, Rachel? Mine always start with visual disturbance and nausea.

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Good to see you Nic and hope you had a wonderful 40th \:)/ Afternoon drinking was always a bad one for me too, I used to say it was OK as I would sleep it off by having a late afternoon nap and then have a sober evening. Never happened. Used to drink all I had in the house and then drive (drunk, not...

Re: Depression, Bipolar and Other Personality Issues.

Not sure it would if it was related to Menopause, Gerard as ADs are often prescribed to help some women cope with severe Menopausal symptoms, so it could just mask them.

Re: Depression, Bipolar and Other Personality Issues.

Sorry to read you are struggling Rachel <:)> Coming off these meds is often as traumatic as starting on them! Can you speak to your GP or Psychiatrist about what you should expect on withdrawal? You didn't say how long you had been down to 5mg, hopefully it will settle after a shortish spell.

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

MC, when you have that talk with yourself, remember to remind yourself of how brilliantly you've done and about the weight you've already lost. OK, you're gaining right now but you can reign it in, you know and we know you can <:)> Thanks Sheila <:)> I still have over 3 stone to gain to be back whe...

Re: Beyond the 1 Year Milestone

Have a good time with your folks, Dave <:)> I guess it is hard for them when you have lived a life of excess to change ingrained opinions. You will win them round eventually <:)> Wish my own family were like that but maybe I kept my drinking problem more of a secret than you? I remember my Dad telli...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

Honestly! I'm up to 9 st 12.5 lbs. I do not want to hit the 10 st mark, it'll kill me :( Just cannot get my head in the right place though. When I log what I think is a healthy amount of food on MFP it takes me way over calories. I guess that's just it, a 'healthy' amount rather than a 'diet' amount...

Re: Darcy's Fitness and Weight Management Club

When am I going to learn?! Hate losing posts, navigated away from this page to confirm a fact and when I came back the text I had written was gone  Sighs.... Great weekend; lots of sunshine, laughs, family history (which was the content of my post!), proper cups of tea and lovely food. I adore ...
