Thanks Sal, I've looked on all the boards and can't find anything, maybe I'll just post at the end of my ramblings on the challenges thread. I've been reading up on how good it is for raising your mood ;)?
Yes - I thought it was my own idea, lol, before discovering it's a 'thing'! I stopped posting because I felt a bit silly being the only one doing it. But maybe I'll join you in putting it the challenges threads.

Is there a gratitude thread? A place where we can post what we feel gratitude for today. Thanks
I think this would be a great idea, Sammie! I did this a few years ago ... I think it was a university study who would email each day to remind you to write something and then later that day/the next day they would remind you of it. Unfortunately I stopped doing it, but I remember it really lifted my mood. A dedicated thread for gratitude woud be great, if possible!

Not specifically but there is the What has made you... thread. Grateful or thankful, whichever you prefer could be added to the title of that thread, it's only an idea, what do you think? :D

Always a pleasure never a chore ;)? Would me adding grateful in the thread title be OK by you?

I could add both grateful and thankful for good measure ;)

Probably just grateful otherwise it's going to be an extremely long subheading ;)

I would like a thread (if there's already one, please point me in the right direction) on dvla/driving and alcohol. I have to have a dvla medical, luckily Sally pointed out that they'll take a hair sample. Just googled hair testing, scary reading, lots of people on this site would fail this test. I've got my fingers crossed that they'll identify almost 8 months sober with only one slip.

Thanks

Ruby xx

What about legal problems and drink? Technically it covers a wider range of issues but it’s mostly people talking about losing their license through drunk driving.

It hasn’t been used in a while but I think it might be of interest -

I'm just wondering why there's an emoji next to the Cutting Down thread on the index page and what it means?

Hi Caroline. I've had a look and the emoji appears to have been added by the person who opened the current Cutting Down thread (when opening threads, there's a list of icons you can attach to them, although these are rarely used). I'm not sure why the "Mr. Green" emoji was chosen for this thread - probably the original poster simply thought it was welcoming :)

I had a look through the forum and a few other threads have emojis attached to their names: a couple of old archived Cutting Down threads (pages 4 & 5 of General Recovery) also have Mr. Green - and this very thread has a small "thought bubble" emoji attached to it.

Hope that helps ;)?

Thanks for taking the time to reply Jjj.It's really interesting how we interpret emojis differently, I always think the weird green one appears to be mocking rather than welcoming. The lightbulb one is different, being fairly universal indicating information. How random someone would choose to welcome people to the Cutting Down thread rather than the New Members. How much time do I obviously have on my hands to be over thinking this and how much do I need to get out more :D

 Not at all! It is interesting how people interpret different emojis. I've always thought of Mr. Green as rather cheery - but also slightly cheesy. I tend to use him after I've deliberately made a particularly bad joke

I have seen other people use it to indicate "feeling sick", though, which I could see once they used it that way, but would never have thought of.

I have to admit, I'd kind of noticed the emoji on Cutting Down before without really taking it in. I didn't find it mocking, but after you pointed it out yesterday it did start to have this effect on me:
The Fonz approves of cutting down your alcohol intake....jpg

As you say, it's interesting how we all interpret emojis differently :)
