Marigold,
So pleased to hear you opened up to your husband and he was so supportive.
Wishing you all the very best for today.
Never give up trying.

That's brilliant Marigold - opening up is so hard to do, but so important.

Great post Marigold. The thing is to now build on it, but never forget it’s a journey. It has twists and turns and this is a complete lifestyle change and it will take time. Some people crack it first time, for others the penny doesn’t drop for quite a while. There is no right way but ultimately if you stick around these parts and listen to what people say and do what people tell you you will get closer to peace in sobriety. The challenges are good as it allows you to gather some momentum but also have people around you who are going through the same things.

So glad you got on board

Well I managed to swerve the poison tonight. I had strong permission thoughts but after coming on here and reading everyone's encouraging posts I haven't touched a drop. In bed with my hot water bottle. I hope you are all ok, thank you <:)>

Well done kate. I know that permission thought = trouble.

Well done Katey! (::) Shouts to many more swerves to come!

And thank you Martha!

I’m ok...I’ve have a good conversation with my husband tonight and committed to a Day 1 tomorrow...and we’ve formulated something of a plan together. It’s good.

Huzzah to everyone out there!

Ok, had a blip. There were two beers left in the fridge after I decided on my Day 1. Well, it’s clear that there just shouldn’t be any in the house for a while, while I tackle my regular habit of having the damn thing in my hand while I do certain things (triggers).

We’re not going to have it in the house, and I’m starting again. All is well ;)

Thanks tee! I’m good, and I actually kind of appreciate the perspective that having those two beers had on me (after I had gone and caved in after they spoke to me, sitting there for 2 days).

Having gone through the 2 false starts in the last week, read tons of stories and encouragements on here from you wonderful people, then realizing very clearly that if there had been more than those 2 in the house, I would have most definitely continued on until either I passed out or they were all gone (whichever came first), I actually had an extreme moment of clarity about it all. Especially since I noticed very keenly that those two did absolutely nothing for me!!!

So I’m not feeling bad, actually, I’m feeling much stronger this time!

How are you doing?

Good to see you back tee!

Hey Marigold - it's realisation isn't it? I had no idea how deeply I was addicted until I tried to stop. In fact it took me a long time to understand that what I had was a drug addiction. All this helps more you on though.

Wobbling like mad here and have been for a but 30 minutes :(

I’ve had a very busy day, have driven home rather than straight to the supermarket but still wobbling. Have already eaten and have an AF drink and tv on.

Can you hang on just a little longer? Shops so be shut soon. I have struggled this evening as well :| Something I read recently was think about what you really need; it's never alcohol.

Swordgirl, way to go staying away from the market! That’s an accomplishment! Now, just redirect your thought each time the ones you don’t want creep in...think about how giving in will do no good and only cause harm. Breathe though it and it will pass, then repeat the next time they crop up. You can do it!!!!
