Hi pickles, no not driving thank god.
I will keep posting, I think one of my problems is that when I’m drinking I tend to isolate myself but I’ve learnt that’s not really helpful.

Hi Sleepy, try not to beat yourself up, what's done is done, look to the future not the past. <:)>

Had a funny sort of day, feeling very low and been craving, took a propranolol (beta blocker) and feeling quite a bit better. Only a little over half an hour til the off licence shuts. Gonna take a sleeping tablet tonight as I didn't get to sleep til 6am this morning and I need to get up early tomorrow.

Ruby hugs to you, you were there for me the other day.
Good plan with the sleeping tablets, anything to avoid the drink. Hope you get sleep as a result. The awfulness of not getting sleep cannot be underestimated xxx

Thanks Sleepy, it's a bit weird but I took a propranolol and my mood is much better? The off licence has closed now so I'm safe. Thanks again.

Definitely one of the most difficult days I’ve had to endure in a long while. Managed to get this far without a drink though so that’s a positive! Hope everyone else is keeping strong through the difficult times

Hiya REL <:)> well done for posting although I’m sorry you’re having a difficult day. One thing that helps me is to “wind the tape forward” ... in other words I focus on what would happen afterwards if I did drink rather than thinking only about the drinking itself. I spent a long time believing I would eventually drink anyway so why try so hard? These sorts of thoughts undermine our self belief and can led to further self defeating thoughts. They’re really normal too, but it’s important to remind ourselves that thoughts / feelings are not facts. Focus on getting to bed sober REL <:)> you won’t regret it.

Hi REL, sorry you're finding today tough <:)> Very positive that you're sober though and in the morning you will be relieved in the morning that you haven't drunk <:)>

Hey REL, sounds like you're doing really well. Tough times are so much better dealt with sober. Hope tomorrow's easier for you <:)>

Awesome going (::) (::) (::) Have some lovely treats or presents to yourself prepared, and I plan for how you're going to spend Saturday and the days following sober? Sometimes milestones are when our addiction tries to convince us that we're OK now really, or we deserve a drink as a reward....

Having a massive wobble tonight. Lots of things on my mind and I feel really crap. I've been 5 months sober and I've not had this feeling since January.

Katey <:)>
whatever you do, just don't drink <:)> Five months is amazing. I'm glad you've posted. Is there anything else you could do to take your mind off drinking? Bubble bath? Play some games on your phone? Keep posting here?
whatever it is on your mind will not be solved by drinking, which i'm sure you know xx

Hello Katey,

Just to add to Martha's helpful post, i think you have done great by posting here, which indicates you really want to overcome this wobble. I'm sorry you are feeling crap, and maybe in the morning after a good night's sleep you will be able to think clearer on what is bothering you. Lots of self care needed here, and some distraction. Some people try urge surfing to get through but distraction and treats often helped me during a strong urge. As did diving into bed early. Also, as Tai often says, 'play the tape forward' and play out in your mind exactly what will happen should you decide to drink. Hopefully any of these methods, and Martha's advice will help you feel stronger than the urge. We cannot control what thoughts enter our minds, but at least we have control over our actions <:)>

Take care xx

Thank you Martha and Shadowlad <:)>
I made myself a chamomile tea instead.
My benefits stop in July for my daughter so I'm looking for a job so there's pressure there, my husband thinks I should settle for what I can get so that's caused a row tonight.
My 10 year old dog is poorly so I'm worried sick about him. I'm also not feeling 100%. Just getting this off my chest so I don't dwell on it before I go to bed.
I love BE and thank you for being here. I would have drank tonight if I hadn't posted xxx
