Decided I can’t cook Christmas dinner so going to walk to one of the village pubs & ask them to cook it.

Be careful Pork, it might be a good idea to stay at home if you've been drinking. Order a take away and have plenty to eat. If you are in the festive mood (which I am, wore my Christmas pjs last night) watch some Christmas films, that always makes me feel good xxx

well i am back to the forum after 1 week sober then not. vacation got me started again first lightly then not. got home and can’t get my sh*** together. what is wrong w me? its like i want to be miserable. currently hungover after an out of control night. why do i keep going down this path when i know exactly where it will lead? feeling crappy, defeated, hopeless. once again i will wake up and toss whatever bottles i bought last night that weren’t consumed. literally pouring money down the drain. thanks for listening.
There's nothing wrong with you Lucy <:)> unfortunately you have an addiction that will make you make bad choices. I was there on Thursday and have felt horrible since. All we can do is keep trying and have faith in that one day it'll just click in our minds and that the day 1 you had will be your last day drinking. Take care Of yourself today, negative thinking will not help. You are a lovely person who made a bad choice xxx

Thanks Pork Katey Martha. All good stuff. made it through the day and will try for the same tomorrow. I really feel like there is some deep negative feeling i must have about myself to almost want to stay down. My outside life looks pretty good no major problems really. but once i start feeling better wham its like oh no feeling good is not for you! go have some wine so you can drink too much and feel like crap tomorrow! Yeah! i mean seriously that is messed up. maybe i will try journaling on this. but ultimately do we really need to know the why’s in order to
stop drinking and start to heal?

It is messed up behaviour Lucy, but that is how addiction is. The drinking brain will trick us in any way it can to get what it wants. The only way to stop it is not to feed it. I found one to one counselling helped me with the negative "you're not worth it" thoughts that crowded my thinking, together with keeping a journal. Might be worth considering if you haven't already done so. TC xx

No. We need to stop drinking.

Once drink's no longer messing with our heads, then we can start to look at other issues.

What you're describing is addiction, just as it affects millions of others. I do recommend reading some quitlit - Allen Carr's the Easy Way really helped me shift my mindset, another one I see recommended often is This Naked Mind by Annie Grace. I also recommend this online course http://www.rational.org/index.php?id=36.

Have faith that gaining freedom is entirely possible. It sometimes deosn't seem so when we're trapped in the addiction cycle, but we all have the ability to recover and be free.
