Na - So sorry to read of your troubles and I echo the wise words of Jos <:)> Drinking is not going to help the situation at all, but you know that. Your son needs you to be there for him and to be strong <:)>

Thanks guys....really appreciate it. You are both so right, I think part of the problem is he has lost confidence. But he definitely still needs me. I'm rough today but I'm not giving up.

Its 7.30pm and the drinking thoughts are coming thick and fast. I decided to come on BE and seen that I was the last person to post in this thread and I couldn't remember what I had posted...so I was drinking last time (according to my post) because of the stress of my son, leaving sixth form etc. He started work today! Apprentice to a barristers clerk so what would be the reason for my having a drink tonight? To celebrate of course  I will not make excuses and drink tonight, celebratory or otherwise.

Yes I am. I think I will drink myself into eternal oblivion this time.

I responded to you on the other thread too. I remember that 'I feel terrible about drinking, so I'll drink more to blot the feeling out' loop all to well. It doesn't have to be like this, it really doesn't. Life can turn around surprisingly quickly, and the catalyst for this for me was understanding that I simply couldn't carry on as I was - quite apart from the physical damage, I hated myself so much. I look back now and it's like looking at a film, it's so different to how things are for me now.
