Just at the airport bound for Spain. Huge compulsion to drink whilst I’m away with the girls. Just done 2 weeks away without a drop and my brain is being bombarded with permission thoughts. Wasn’t going to post but felt I should to try and abort a huge mistake

Wish I could help <:)>

Good on you for reaching out. That compulsion can feel so strong and overpowering but you are breaking its 'spell' by posting here. Well done !

Is it that feeling of being excluded with the girls whilst away ? I'm sure you are very much included because you are a sociable person and and are one of them with shared interests so drink is not really needed at all. There could be that teeny bit of an illusion that maybe you could control the drinking this time ? By posting, the rational side of you knows that it is a big risk, and you don't really want to take that risk.

Its tricky with holidays and the 'kick back and relax' or 'lets party' atmosphere. I think you can achieve all this without alcohol, as socialising can be so rewarding when we are just our natural fun, interested selves. Take care Leslans, and post whenever you need to <:)>

Roll your mind back Leslans - to the drunk times you regret. Then forward, to waking up tomorrow fresh and ready to enjoy your hoilday.

Ahh, I do so understand Leslans

I hope you’ve managed to swerve it and that maybe you’ve been away with them before which makes it a bit easier, that first step done, so to speak.

When I went away recently with t(e girls for a few days, the only time it got a bit boring was when they drank before going out and I had to hurry them along a bit before they got too comfortable just sitting drinking!

I hadn’t even realised they were hungover until they said during some of the days, cos they just got on with it. So glad it wasn’t me! I had no regrets and remembered everything ;) ;)?

Leslans, I hope you have a fantastic holiday. I had a sober holiday this summer and loved it and I'm planning the same for my next October holiday. I won't be with big drinkers so I won't have the same pressure, so I know it's not the same, but I hope you can choose to do whatever feels right for you right now <:)>

Morning. Thank you so much. After a rather anxious hour or so I settled on the flight with a cup of tea. My friend (previous drinking partner) flew in from Germany and declared she wasn’t drinking. Hallelujah. What an absolute peach. Couldn’t believe it, and tbh my wobble had passed during the flight. So I’m here, safe off to play golf with a very clear head and conscience. So pleased, proud and relieved. You guys are the best. Thank you <:)>

Well done, Leslans. Holidays are really hard, especially airports. I have relapsed on many a holiday, including, my last catastrophic one in 2012...

It's partly association and partly that sense of freedom :?

Good luck with your holiday. You don't need booze to enjoy it. In fact, it will be much better without!

Hola, Leslans, and well done! I have done a couple of sober holidays now, but I know how easy it would be to think 'I'm away - a few won't hurt'.

It's a real pain in the proverbial; but the deal now is that we just can't do it. In the end, it's for the best anyway. No making a fool of ourselves, no hangovers, and we can remember all the good times.

Enjoy the rest of your break.

Went to bed early last night........well 12.30 so earlier than the rest. I’m fine. Once again thanks. My mindset is it would be nice......I like the taste........but I actually don’t want the crap that goes with it. The pain and anxiety, low self esteem and massive lows. Thankfully I’ve got through it and whilst I’m still at the beginning of this journey I know I’m doing the right thing. I will move away from here now and concentrate on my 100 days. Thank you all <:)>
