Many many people swear by AA, I didn't think it was for me but I met many kind caring people that understand what you're going through.

Keep posting here anyway, what would we do without your jokes. :lol2:

Yes.
I want to stop though.
Going to try real hard tomorrow.
I do appreciate the support here.
Just seem stuck back drinking.
Hate myself thoughts starting to embed in my head again.
Lush mentioned AA. But I’m not sure on the whole share circle idea.
Pork, I think it's worth trying anything - quitting's tough. I've known people whose lives have been turned around by AA.

Why don't you ditch the Special Brew? If tomoorow's going to be your first day sober, you want to minimise the suffering of withdrawal. If you must drink, have something weaker, space it out, make sure you eat and get some water in too.

You're at the stage where alcohol is going to send you into a horrible depressive spiral. I'm really glad you want to get sober again <:)>

Too late for me.
Done worse than special brew.
I’m stopping everything.
Mate came round to party but left at 6pm.
Lots more beer here now.
Won’t drink much more today but may drink some of it tomorrow & pour the rest away.
Bought some more gold. Dunno why but the price seems to go up & up.
Had a real f**k it day.
Even had a roll up.
May have a couple more but that’s it. I don’t want to be a smoker it’s just he smokes when he drinks & I bought the tobacco.
Will reset a few counts I have but keeping 8 years smoke free even though I’m having a few roll ups.
I’m sorry people.
I’m a big let down.
I would say keep on but I can’t right now.
Wishing you all the best in your lives.
Maybe I should call someone.
But don’t know what to say.
Think I’m losing the plot.
Not SOS. But maybe I should call the Samaritans.
Might help just to talk.
Feel my mind going crazy.

Pork,

Drink will never be the answer. It’s addictive because it almost works. We chase the prospect that next time it might work, but no - it will always come up short.

Of course it adds plenty of extra problems along the way, and most of us go through a good deal of self-harm before turning away from it.

The negative self-talk induced by drinking is especially toxic, and can keep us stuck, sapping belief in our own ability to change. Just look at how down on yourself you become when you’re jarred.

This is just how it goes - how it will always go - every time you drink.

You’re better off sober, in every way, so go easy on yourself and get back to it as soon as you can. Tomorrow can be a better day ;)?

You are right Trojan & I really appreciate your message.
I’m suffering right now.
Hate being a burden.
Need to sort this out don’t I.
I’d love to be normal like yourself.
I respect & think you’ve achieved the ultimate goal.
Your replies are always useful to me.
I just need to listen & sort myself out.
Thank you.
Might go for a walk.

Pork, life's problems don't go away when you quit drinking! There is no magic formula!

Sobriety just helps you handle life's problems, ups and downs, joys, sorrows because you just feel better, not sick, not brain soaked, not shaky, not vomiting, not in so much pain!

By hook or by crook, get back on the sober side of the street, then you will find yourself, your better self!

You've done it before, JUST DO IT!

Best wishes, Deanna <:)> <:)> <:)>
There isn't enough alcohol in the world to make you happier, calmer, prettier, more clever or less angry.
Only sobriety will help you achieve these attributes.

Easy does it Pork - slow things down, and don't try to tackle every facet of life at once.

Drinking is the central problem to solve right now. As Deanna says, by hook or by crook, get back to being sober. That comes first, and then afterwards you can tackle other issues with a clear head.

Yeah thanks Trojan.
You guys are great.
Don’t really need to taper but think I will tomorrow.
Can’t believe I’m sitting here smoking.
But I’m finding it quite relaxing.
Don’t mind if she leaves me. Said to her a few times she can if she wants be she has many problems & needs me.
Might give her a call now just for someone to talk to.
Thanks again.
When I found this site back in 2016 was great.
Yourself, the mods & users are great support.
Thanks to the creator off this site also.
Can’t remember his username right now but I might just book a session with him.
Does he just do alcohol counselling or general depression also?

Maybe take things slowly Pork, and try to avoid any rash or strong statements if you're on the phone tonight.

There’s some information on Tobin’s counselling service here…

https://www.brighteyecounselling.co.uk/ ... ling-work/

I had a good deal of face-to-face counselling in the early days, along with group support meetings which I still go to once a week. Every interaction helps to break the circular, inward-looking thinking. It will gradually open up your perspective, and change your life for the better

It's just so hard to gain traction when you are drinking ain't it Pork. It's the alcohol in there that is controlling your mood - and your thoughts. Try to treat yourself kindly today and lay off the drink if you can. I know from personnel experience much, much easier said than done.

Just catching up Pork. Everything just about said but yes you can walk away from this. We’ve all got our own cross to bare and you have shown you can do this and be in a much better place. Alcohol in itself is a depressant and takes you down a spiralling staircase to hell. Everyone on here is willing you to get back and you will. Call someone who can help you break the cycle, don’t even finish those cans........get rid of them. Do all the healthy things you did before which make you feel alive and well. I am willing you to take those steps towards recovery which you’ve done before and which you can do again. We’ve all been where you are in some kind of way and we all want you to be well and back with us.

Much love piggy you deserve so much more <:)>

Thanks leslans.
Just doing some beans on toast then retire to bed room & film on MacBook.
So tired. Loved my nap but had an alarm as want to start eating better.
So food, watch film in bed in case I pass out 👍
