Thanks.
To be honest I feel great now.
Beer shouldn’t be a solution but I didn’t over do it.
It haven’t had a situation where I cause a scene when drinking in over 2 years.
I’m not saying I’m fixed but maybe matured a little.
There is a group of friends I haven’t seen In that time.
Got a mate moving in soon & we are fine drinking together.
Not sure whether to just put soberness on hold for a bit.
I don’t drink during the week anyway.
Food for thought.
Suggestions welcome <:)>

I’ll stop posting here as mental health has massively improved 👍😎

O sh*t
Was my thought, tbh pork :|
I think you’re an all or nothing kind of guy, alcohol addiction only gets worse and everyone knows it worsens your mental health apart from maybe in the very short term increasing endorphins and relieving withdrawal symptoms.
It fks up your neurotransmitters
Better antidepressants than alcohol but not both

I mean were you asking for advice or approval? I’m sorry I can’t give you approval. Youre not a child anyway and I doubt you really want advice?
Pissing up weekends is c*ap even if you didn’t have a problem. Not that you’d want to be doing that if you didn’t have a problem. We’re you thinking you’d be drinking a pint or two on a Friday night?
Do you think that’s likely or even possible long term for you?

I'm pleased for you pork but worried too. I would keep a journal if you don't already, good luck.

I'm still really depressed but not suicidal, been trying to talk to people and get the help I need, seeing my GP on Wednesday and trying to arrange counselling.

Pork, just a few days ago you had stopped eating and told your boss you didn’t feel well in the head.

This is not a good state of mental health. There are things you can do to improve it, but drinking is not one of them.

You mentioned a visit to the doctor, possibly counselling, and contacting Mind.

I’d urge you to think about how you felt then, and do something useful to head off a recurrence.

Feeling suicidal, been told tonight that I'm not getting on OT and I've been struck off the list for psychological counselling
I've phoned breathing space twice, NHS 24, they sent the police round that phoned the crisis team, who were useless. Run out of sleeping tablets, god knows how I'll sleep. I'm meant to go to the local drop in centre for mental health where I got bullied for years and the staff bitch about me behind my back when they're not giving me the run around.

I hope you managed to sleep Ruby
Are you able to just go through the motions today, just ‘switch off’ when you notice you’ve got caught up in those thoughts again?
Do something that makes you feel peaceful? Being in green spaces they say is good, or around good people if you can and that is your thing?
Put off anything that is causing you stress. Nicotine is a stimulant so if you can avoid that it may be good if racing thoughts are a problem?
Keep us in the loop xx

Hope you are ok, piggy, felt yesterday’s post from me was maybe a bit harsh. Looking at the posts before, i see you’ve been struggling with your MH of late. I just hate alcohol and how it fks you, sad you’re going back to it. I wish you would bin alcohol, seek more support and continue with the changes you were making in your life but it’s your journey, I know. Hope to see u soon 👋

Ruby, I hope you’re okay. I’m always amazed at the local services available in the UK - there’s nothing like that here.

If you can, please do go to the drop in centre. Set aside past experience there, and focus on getting any available support that will reduce the mental overload you’re feeling.

Mental distress is cumulative, but the remedies are cumulative too, so every form of support will be of benefit. Winkler made some good suggestions.

Keep rooting for yourself. Everyone here is <:)>

Moira, please don't harm yourself in response to the actions or inactions of others - what's the point, after all? Hard though it is, this is the time for self-care. Rope in Jim, another friend, or go see your sister. Get out for a really long walk or go swimming or something, anything to get rid of all the adrenaline surging around. Play feelgood music. Use ACCEPTS as a framework to manage your emotions http://www.dbtselfhelp.com/html/accepts.html. Feelings do pass if we allow them to, and then it's possible to start solving problems - the CalmHarm app is very good for wave surfing.

Ruby, sorry to hear that you're so distressed.

Have you been able to get some rest, and maybe restock on meds? How about connecting with services?

The crisis team were nice for the first time ever, she's asked for a referral from a nice psychiatrist and an ot. Seeing my GP again tomorrow, hopefully can get a referral back to the consultants for my physical problems

Thanks for all your responses, the propranolol has calmed me down a bit too and I've got sleeping tablets too.

Ruby xx
