I probably would because I've worked through the injury for decades now, the jip comes and goes depending on what I'm doing for work and a support helps when needed, maybe I'm just looking for any excuse ()o

Twelve weeks is what I gave myself at the start of the year, January was a build up to a target of 10 miles a day with a bit extra on my days off (Sunday/Monday) depending on how I feel, February is planned for back pack work, start off at 10lbs and work that up weekly, I suppose I could spice up my walks in March by including the couch to 5k running a bit/walking a bit and ditching the bag, I'll think about it ;)
I'm knackered just thinking about all of that!!

Been back at work the last 2 days. Out and about running errands and a 1 hour park walk at lunchtime and I'm averaging 12,000 steps.

That’s a good number of steps fresh, more than I usually manage in a day. ;)?

Well done on gym class ruby! \:)/ Bound to get rid of some of that Christmas muscle!

Phenomenal effort newt! How are you gonna top that next week?!

Jj, canicross sounds interesting and 7k is officially amazing! Who was most tired - you or the dog?!

Hi fiz, glad to hear you’re on it in style! Little steps I think, same as the booze. I’m trying to watch what I eat, I know that’s what the problem is really. Made somewhat harder by the fact that someone at work has brought in sweets that they didn’t manage to finish over Christmas. ah well, I haven’t gone over my allowed calories today so that’s something. 8-)

I might do that second run of the week tomorrow morning tho Thursday is the better weather forecast by any mode of measurement so may well delay until then. What do we reckon teamies? (Possibly only 4j is my 5k buddy now I think about it...) is he still toiling through the darkening hours to ensure our dairy products are at the front of the shelves? That’s basically strength training as well as cardio he’s signed up to! \:)/

Best get my beauty sleep.

Hi silver, I'm afraid I'm going to put off the couch 2 5k till the weather improves but good luck with it. ;)? Christmas is hellish with the amount of muscle we put on, I'm sure I'm not alone with it. :lol2: still off the fags and alcohol so that's the main thing.

I find exercise hugely beneficial as a substitute to drinking.

When I feel like a drink if I can instead get to the gym first then find the desire to drink goes or is much less.

Giving up without it would be so much harder.

Will be honest dry January has been hard and at the moment am determined to just get to the end of the month then review.

One of the most difficult things is I really look forward to my drinking days I only drink 2 or 3 times a week but they were the days I enjoyed most but the amount I drink on those days is to much and causing me health issues.

Not sure I can successfully cut down to sensible levels but will think about that more after January is done.

Morning all
Didn't get to SW class this morning -looks about a pound off by my scales -difficult week with a lot of socialising, so not bad.
getting to the gym most days and doing some great classes-love the old school aerobics with the cheesy music -makes me laugh -but boy is it hard! Got a PT and had a great boxing session -undoubtedly my favourite exercise-just punching the hell out of whatever is in front of me ( didnt think I was that aggressive!!. Managed a couple of swims too, so plenty activity but not so good on the food stil :(
right tell me again about the couch to 5K app
whats the best??

Woo hoo sandy’s in da house! And being mega busy by the sounds of it! \:)/ I dunno if the app I am using is best or not but it looks like this on the App Store:

D174AB2E-1422-46F1-881E-A4FAA2FB333E.jpeg (12.96 KiB) Viewed 1239 times
It has a person (who you can choose) telling you things like “ready to start your next run? 3-2-1 go!” And also things like “you’re doing great!” which is good but also I don’t wear headphones so everyone who is in my vicinity gets to hear as well.

The best thing about it (in my inexpert opinion!) is that it gives you a screen like this:
FCA91827-C877-4089-B052-6CC2ADC60FDC.png
FCA91827-C877-4089-B052-6CC2ADC60FDC.png (43.63 KiB) Viewed 1239 times
\:)/ \:)/ \:)/ As you can see, I have done run two of week one - this morning, despite the forecast. It was dry but pretty cold, I need to find my hat for winter running.

Nag nag naggity nag, etc.

Don’t normally post on here but just wanted to say I did C25k a few years back and lost so much weight and was probably the fittest I’d ever been. Well worth it if you can stick with it

First weigh in at SlimmingWorld. Lost 1.5 lbs down to 10.12.5. From 11st. That’s a result as I was away skiing at the weekend and did fill my boots with french pastries and cheese :D That said skied for about 6 hours each day so I’m not surprised I lost weight. I am going to try and get to 10.10 for next week as I go away skiing again on 26th and pants are a bit snug 🤣🤣🤣🤣
19.5 lbs to go 🤐🤐🤐🤐

I know how you feel spats, I've put on over a kg, but remember you don't smoke or drink and that's what's important. <:)> <:)>

Hi all
I'm doing ok with exercise and food so far. When I'm on my own (ie not at my mother's) I have been having a smoothie after the gym at about 10.30 then soup for lunch and healthy supper early -by 6pm. I think I can sustain that sort of routine. I haven't had any bread (well only a couple of slices) and hardly any milk. But I'm not cutting out anything.
I did pilates and body tone classes this morning - both a bit of a struggle. I downloaded a 5k app and have done the first 25 min 'run' today. I find it difficult jogging for 1 min at the moment but it's early days. I've never been a runner but I'll give it a go. I like the flexibility and cheapness of it!
I had an afternoon nap today - slept deeply for about 1.5 hours - oh dear. I used to only do that when i'd been drinking. But thankfully not today...... :\:
And I said to my body softly 'I want to be your friend'. It took a long sigh and said 'I've waited my whole life for this'

Morning fitties! \:)/

AmyJean I struggled to run a whole minute when I first started couch to 5k a few years ago. The first couple of weeks I just ran 30 seconds and that was fine. My friend also said maybe I was running too fast so I slowed down so that I was almost running in slow motion and that helped. Well done on doing your first run though! :D \:)/

So I haven’t yet done run 3, I was psyching myself up for doing it yesterday when I was unexpectedly called in to work early. I could have done it this morning but slept in and my knee was quite sore last night so I don’t want to aggravate it! Excuses excuses I know, it’s a lovely day but I have plans for the afternoon so I’ve missed my chance today. Hey ho, tomorrow, tomorrow, etc. (Nag me someone for heavens sake!)

I have weighed in today (eating out tonight...) and I have lost 2.4lb! Yay! Brings me down to 1*0.6lb, so next week my target is to be below 1*0lb! In the 1(*-1)0’s!

Spats don’t worry about weight gain, do anything you have to to remain smoke and drink free! I think you are very brave to quit both substances at once, that always spelt disaster when I tried and I had to do them both separately. \:)/

Sleepyb you could do the C25k again! \:)/ :D

Leslans, fresh, winkler, jj, jjjj, sandy, newt, <:)>

Sheila, ooh la la, how’s France? 🇫🇷

Love to all,
sgx

Not feeling very 'ooh la la' right now Sg as I've succumbed to the box of Magnuns I found in my freezer when we got here and I've gained 1.6lbs so far
Bad news is I've eaten them all bar one, which I'm having this afternoon. The good news is that I didn't buy any when we went shopping yesterday so I'm hoping to get back on track again starting on Monday.

Sorry I've not had time to read back on everybody's news, but I hope you're all doing ok <:)>
