Sorry to hear about Tilly Ruby :( My last cat (Spats) was very feisty but when we moved here he came up against the local bullies and had infected bites - trips to vets. Found out he was deaf :o Current moggie is so laid back though but does call out for the other cats - don’t know if they come out to play though (w)

Oh dear :( My cats are in the wars again. Small female cat (Smudge) has a return of the smelly oozing puss on her back again, and won't let me touch it. Poor Gizmo, her handsome brother, has come in this evening with a big bald patch, some blood, on the side of his face. I haven't been able to find him last couple of days. He must have been hiding, scared, because he's eaten loads and drank loads. Poor boy. There is definitely some new nasty cat or dog in the area because we have never had a problem to this scale before. Glad hes home though as i was starting to fret. More vet visits, which the cats hate of course :(

I hope its not that young staffie on the loose again :!:

I hope your cats are well on the mend now Nicki <:)>

I saw this today, and as a Border Terrier owner, it made me laugh as it’s spookily true of one of mine

That’s good to hear Nicki <:)>

Yes, my pooches are small and cute and make me laugh every day

Cody has been backwards and forwards to our vets in France this trip.
He’s had two ‘fights’ with ragondins/coypus. Nasty big hairy water rats with long teeth and claws.
Unfortunately last Sunday he came off quite bad and came back covered in blood with wounds all over his face and neck. I’m having to bathe them twice a day with 50/50 iodine and water solution and it’s back to the vets again tomorrow
Thankfully our vets here are as nice as our vets back in the uk, but still expensive!

Oooh i wouldn't like to come into contact with a big hairy French water rat ! Poor Cody. I'm sure he will soon be on the mend with your tlc but yes it gets very expensive for us ! <:)>

You must have good veterinary French vocab, now, Sheila (although perhaps you are fluent anyway?)

Poor animals in the wars...

I was suppose to give my two flea treatment, today, but chickened out. Lily was lying next to me on the settee all morning, purring and happy in her patch of sun. I didn't have the heart to ruin her morning :D Basil has a hidy place in the house which I need to find.

My lovely French vet speaks some English and I speak some French so between us we manage to understand each other!

The first ragondin encounter left him with staples in his face and shoulder and he’d not long healed from that incident when he took on another one .... you’d think he’d have learnt his lesson after the first time!
He was gone for so long we really thought we’d lost him.

I think we’re getting to know our French vet as well as we know our uk vet now

Took blackie into new cattery yesterday - he wasn’t too pleased either (w) not sure how he’ll be when I get him back on Saturday. It came as a bit of a shock to him

I'm sure he'll be ok, try not to worry too much. Hope the funeral goes ok, I know how awful they can be. <:)>

I need to get a piccie up of Tilly, I'm too technically challenged to do it, maybe Jim will help me out.

Basil has just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Anyone have any experience of this with cats?

Oh poor Basil, I hope your vet can help him
I think Blackie is having very anxious moments - he’s tiddling around the house usually in 3 particular places. He’s also off his chicken :o and he loves chicken! Seeing the vets today for claws to be clipped so may ask them.

Good luck, Spats.

Basil should be ok, once treated, but it's for life. There is also a possiblity that the hyperthryoidsm has been masking kidney disease. Will have to wait until he's been stabilized to find out. And we thought Lily was the poorly one...
