Hi Ruby, sorry to hear you didn’t have a lot of sleep last night  I know you often have problems sleeping but hope you don’t feel too bad this morning. It’s Sunday so take things steady and have a lovely walk in the fresh air, if it’s not too wet and windy ()o

Still AF, day five done ✅ and nearly a whole week ;)?
One day SF, can’t sleep tonight, had two hours, woke up (now I’ve woken the cat🙄) found I’ve left my patch on - have found this keeps me awake at night so here’s hoping I can get back to sleep again now 💤

I have started setting alarm on phone to take promethazine at 7 pm each night but didn't take it tonight due to a party. After ten mins of scrubbing zombie makeup off im now wide awake. Anyone fancy extending the party with hot chocolate and marshmallows ? :D

Sooooo. Consultant has prescribed 2 weeks course of sleeping tablets because the promethazine seems to have stopped working. Going to try harder with sleep hygiene too so TV has been removed from bedroom and all electrics. Tablet at 9.30 pm and no drinks after 6 pm if possible (always thirsty !). No caffeine at all after 12.00 pm. And no bags of sugary marshmallows at bed time !

Hello insomniacs!

Me too, the most bedeviling symptom of not drinking anymore! I use Benadryl and Melatonin every night, which works some of the time for a few hours, anyway!

My worst problem is waking up with feet on fire and sharp pains! Neuropathy, and I am sure it is from many years of dousing my brain with alcohol! I wish I could find a good solution. I bought these cooling socks that have pockets for tiny frozen packs, but I hate getting out of bed to go to the fridge to get them! I take them out at bedtime, and they are thawed and not cool enough at 3 or 4 a.m. when I wake up and feel like I just walked on burning coals!!!!!

I am trying to find a blanket that will be cool enough but also warm enough to help my poor peds!

Anyone have similar probs? I have tried Gabapentin and it made me have an edema blow up! Lyrica is too expensive, not covered by Medicare.

Sometimes I think I should try to fry an egg on my soul! Or is it sole? :lol2:  :?

Help??????? Deanna <:)>

You need a 'beer fridge' (ironically) next to your bed. Not sure how noisy they are though. Does keeping them in an insulated bag with frozen ice packs work?

Yes, a little refrigerator would be wonderful! To put in me socks and cool fizzy water for those middle of the night thirsties!

I am going to try putting them in a freezer bag with some ice packs! That should do it!

Thanks, Rachel, boy having Restless Leg Syndrome and burning feet sure is not a fun thing in the post drinking years!

I have found that magnesium has almost cured the RLS. But it's often idiopathic i.e. they seem unable to diagnose the cause, which could be various things for any individual, so one size cure will not fit all. Worth a try, though? I have heard that some people have success with iron supplements.

Apparently my maternal grandmother suffered from it terribly. Me too, in the past. (Touch wood, not in the future.) Long haul flights, coach trips, the cinema, even... were awful. And trying to get to sleep, of course. Not done a long haul flight since I started on the magnesium so not sure how effective it would be for that.
