Ruminate away, Winkler. It’s good to hear your thoughts - and welcome to the thread!

My own attempts at moderate reintroduction were all abject failures, so I’m now totally comfortable with my commitment to long-term abstinence. In fact, the pithy response I wheel out when someone asks why I’ve quit drinking is: ‘I find abstinence easier than moderation.’ Sums it up completely and usually shuts down any further questions. Sometimes I might elaborate with: ‘I spent years searching for my off switch and eventually accepted that I don’t have one.’ That does the trick too.

Just thought I’d share some tools in my armoury!

Wowcha, it got busy in here, fantastic to read through all your posts. ;)?
Lovely to see the piggy 🐷 in the 9 month room, you are doing amazing. \:)/
Aw, cowboy, one day I might get to live my dream of a little wooden cabin in the middle of some woods, maybe with a little stream running right on by. 🥰
Winkler, I don’t think any of us can moderate really, I did a long stint of abstinence then thought, I got this, it went well for about 3 months, then I was worse than ever.
Mooths, I used to come up with some bloody elaborate excuses why I wasn’t drinking, I’ve had sleepless nights worrying how will I tell people, I’m not drinking. It’s getting easier though, sometimes now, I just say not for me thanks and look at them like they are crazy for even considering to drink that poison.
I hope I’ve not missed anyone, have a lovely day. <:)>

Ha ha, I know that feeling, fiz! I'm definitely "saving" money but I don't know where it is. Big mystery! :D

I put £35/week aside (£5 per day) for every week I don’t drink and use the money - without guilt - on regular expensive haircuts!

Mooths, that’s a great idea, I think it’s important that we treat ourselves.

Is that a selfie pork?

Yes, I don’t have any problems treating myself either, unfortunately, bought myself some sandals and quite a bit body shop stuff in the last few days but I was on holiday and they were lovely and IN THE SALE so clearly I saved money

Sugar is soo addictive isn’t it but better than alcohol. I was just having some alcohol permissioning thoughts, wrapped up in being back from hols and tired I think, will be better in the morning.

Slimming world starts again tomorrow in earnest!

Morning 9’ers
I hope everyone is still pushing on, the mornings are darker now, less light always effects my mood, so, I’ve bought myself a couple of Himalayan salt lamps.
I’ll be leaving you all Sunday, but look forward to you joining me on our next challenge, can’t think of a better group of people to be travelling this journey with.
Have a lovely day. <:)>

Oh no another one leaving so soon although well deserved!
Aren’t those salt lamps meant to have some kind of well-being benefit too? I like them as well.
Yes definite signs of seasonal changes although I’m not really ready!

Morning all.
Winkler, yes, apparently these salt lamps are supposed to have healing properties or something like that, I just liked the look of them, and they have dimmer switches, so give off a lovely glow when I’m up and about at 4.30am. Also, thought they’d be handy as night lights when the grand bairns stay over.
Mooths, I certainly will be keeping the fire well stacked. We have traveled this path as a team for quite a while now. <:)>
Well, that’s me off to work until silly o’clock tonight, but only half day tomorrow. \:)/
Have a good day u’all <:)>

Morning all,
Pishing down here, again  went to clean one of my regulars yesterday, and the stream at the bottom of her garden is now at the top, only a patio keeping it from her back door. So instead of cleaning, I spent the day emptying cupboards and moving stuff to higher ground, also filling bags with sand, hopefully, the rain will lay off a bit to drop the level.
I hope none of you are near flooding, the stream at the bottom of my garden, has come over the bridge, but there’s a bit of a bank down to mine, so think I’ll be ok. Anyway, always better to handle stuff like this sober. ;)?
Have a great day. <:)>

Hi, Fiz, and good luck with the flood prevention. We are (relatively) dry here in London.

Have a great AF weekend, everyone.
