Hi Woodstock.

AF for last 2/7. Now we're Sucking Diesel !!🤣.

Anyone else on this chat? How's everyone doing?

Tea time tricky today. Faced a stressful situation with my daughter. Then listening to The Archers with a very sad story line about an alcoholic, but was actually making me think of and want a drink!!! How messed up is my brain!!😖

Here's to day 3.... x

Hi Winnie :\:
I had a bit of a messed up head space last night. Back to day 1 but hope you're happy sticking together ? I'm just behind you!
I managed over 3 years and slipped a couple of months ago. I recently got 3 weeks so I know I can do it. It's by far the better life being AF which is why it's crazy not to automatically go for it but I suppose that's addiction for you :?
I'll check in later today

well, I completed the 7 days and rewarded myself with "just one night" of drinking, been a week. At some point I'm going to have to accept I can't just have 'one night', something I realise rationally but just can't seem to feel.
Anyway, day 1 done, been tough, gonna have to accept that just one more night has been happening for years. sucks.

Hi tj
Good to get some company here. :D
I started drinking again and then couldn't stop. There definitely is some sort of button that is pressed at the first sign of alcohol.
I know abstinence is the only way for me but it takes a while to get in that headspace. The abstinence thread is good to put in some foundations.
Day 2 done here.

(::) Well done Woodstock for getting straight back on it!!

I drank on day 3 and didn't get straight back on it. ☹ I feel tired and hungover and trapped. I need to really analyse my triggers. I also need to accept fully that alcohol does NOT help you manage stressful situations.

Day 1.
Plan. Tidy up. See a friend. Drink mineral water. Early night!👍

Back again. Drinking these days isnt causing me any ill effects, but i see it as pointless and want it stopped. Extra motivation this time is i want to be leaner to enhance my fitness, and i love to eat if i have drinks. I made a really good start yesterday, so i am looking forward to seeing were i am after the first 7 days.

Patrick, i have been failing since i joined this site, but i dont call it failure these days, any sober day is a win, and i am a million miles from were i was when i joined here. I wouldnt say i can take it or leave it, but a day 1 isnt a struggle like it used to be. Day 3 and feeling great. I remember the time when getting to day 3 was a monumental effort, but its hard for me to get over the weekend drinker type attitude.

Hi Johnny and Patrick

Didn't think after such a long AF spell it would be so hard to get back there.

Hi all

What was going on last week (w) - I also broke my Af stint of 40 odd days on 2 occasions.
So back on day 3 at the moment .... I colour in the af days on a calendar so it dosent feel like starting again - just got to build up the stretches. Also doesn't help that the hangovers are so much worse ... I feel so ill the day after & that still doesn’t,teach me to not pick up the first glass .

Glad to have the company ... let’s get through the weekend
Take care all

Woodstock i get it, dont beat yourself up about it. My change is evolutionary, year on year i see an improvement and thats good enough. I dont want to go back were i was so i have to stay switched on and use all the tools in my box. Dont get tired, thirsty or bored, thats probably 80% of it for me. Day 5 over.
