Mountainhare wrote:Chin up Twinkle, the weekends are the hardest. Keep on trying you will succeed. The way I look at it is......I tried to give up smoking probably every other week for 20 years and eventually I cracked it. I haven't smoked for 10 years now and see smoking for the vile poisonous habit that it is. I actually thought I enjoyed smoking when I did......but in reality I smoked to feed the craving. I guess it is the same with alcohol we just don't realise it.

If we keep on trying one day we will overcome it. Good luck hope you don't feel too bad today.

Thankyou mountainhare your words are appreciated. :) I'm trying not to beat myself up an look at it as I did 7 ( nearly 8!) days AF and that's the first time since the beginning of February. The weather forecast is good for a few days so I want to enjoy them without nursing a hangover so hopefully this will keep me motivated! Xxx

Morning all,

Well I have woke up fresh as a daisy as last night myself and my OH didn't have one drop of alcohol. We instead spent our Friday night walking along a riverbank with the kids and having a long drive in the car and I can honestly say it was a lovely night all round.

Today is day 7 for me and day 6 for my OH. Its my mums birthday so today will be my first time watching someone drink alcohol in my company, determined to stay the course though!

Well done Mountainhare and everyone else who got through a Friday night sober ;)?

Good luck for everyone today, its a lovely morning here so going out a walk with the dog to get some fresh air.

xx

Notsopurfect that sounds like a lovely evening last night. Me and my boyfriend have had similar evenings to that when we've driven to the coast about an hr and half drive from where we live and walked along the beach with the kids, had fish and chips and then driven home then waking up fresh as daises the nxt day. Hope you get through today easily x

Day 1 again here, but I feel OK because I did not binge. OH and I made a plan of action for the night and I stuck to it, managed only to have 3 alcoholic drinks over 5 hours which I wouldn't say was a binge.

So in terms of being alcohol free I didn't make it but in terms of staying sober and in control I did which is a big achievement for me. I had OH looking out for me though and at this stage I wouldn't feel comfortable going and doing that without his help.

Hello :) I am on day one of the seven day challenge. Still nursing a hangover and finally decided today that it is time to stop what essentially has been self medicating which is getting out of control . I hate weekends but this Saturday will be alcohol free. Another member suggested I try the seven day challenge, so here I am . Day one for me . Good luck all. Debbie

Mountainhare very envious of your mountain biking. Not been out on mine for weeks, hopefully I'll be back on it soon. I had wanted to today, but I'm still struggling with lack of energy.

Thanks Mountainhare. Was feeling a bit wobbly for a while- being able to check in on the forum helped me to stop and think. 1st minor hurdle overcome :) Nearly through the 1st day. Think I will follow your example and get out tomorrow for some fresh air and exercise.

Day 3. Doing good. Lazy day for me, just chilling out around the house for the most part, working on projects. Not much to say, really, but in a good way :)
