I've just started on my journey again - this is day 1. I managed 3 years sober then stupidly began drinking again and it's now worse than ever. I absolutely must stop this time and stop for good. I've been quite sick today but I guess at least it's all the toxins coming out. I can't even keep water down today.

Hi les, I was like that Thursday but I’m feeling ok 4 days on, eating (far too much) and sleeping ok. I’m not exactly dancing in tables but significantly better than I was day one

Thanks Sleepyb - I've been here so many times I've just got to make it work this time. Sometimes I'm amazed I'm not dead already I've been drinking so much :-(

Yep I’m sure you have. I really worry about my physical health as I can’t believe I’ve not done some damage but too scared to get checked out at docs.
Every time I say ‘right if I can stay alcohol free for at least a month, give my liver a bit of a chance, then I’ll go to the doc’ trouble is I can never make it to a month

Oh I know the feeling Sleepyb - that's exactly the way I've been thinking. I've started swimming again and have a personal trainer once a week - just need to sort the drinking out. I guess we have to focus on the improvements that will come to our health by cutting out alcohol.

Day 5 over. Had a good day and my mood has improved. Les, 3 years sober and back to day 1. It's a reminder that we don't get fixed, we must maintain. I'm 57 and see myself as finished with alcohol, I may fall along the way but I will get back on the sober path. No controlled drinking, that does not work. I will never be fixed, that's a delusion. The best drinks salesman will always be in my head. This is maintenance and I must always maintain. I love being sober.

Day 2. Good morning all and hi to Pork, Pikkles and Truestate - thanks for your messages.
Feeling positive today. Going to get the diet right and get back out running.
I’ve just logged onto my bank account and that’s given me another reason to quit this lifestyle. I’ve gone through a ton of money in the last two weeks and there’s still two weeks till payday. :?

Anyway, have a great day everyone. ;)?

This! I get a letter from my GP every year offering a free medical as I’m over 40  but I daren’t go as I’m trying to heal my liver as I suspect I’ll have done some damage.

Day 1, feeling rough, spent the whole day on the couch, just need a good nights sleep. Feeling hopeful though ;)?

Hello Pikkels and welcome to Brighteye ;)?

It's going to take about 10 days before your sleep starts getting back in order, I drank daily for over 20 years and it was around day 10 or 11 before I slept right. You are going to feel rough for a good few days so just class yourself as full of flu and relax, everything else can wait. Once you've got past that ball ache things improve fast and furious ;)?

Best of luck :D
Thank you! Last night was not too bad, just waiting for the night sweats to kick in :( and the headaches :(
Lets see what day two brings ;)?
just trying to be the best i can \:)/

Day 2 and been up all night throwing up. I'm such an idiot letting it get this bad again. I know I've been using it to numb painful emotions with no concern about the damage I'm doing to myself. Taking care of myself has never come easy to me. I've never felt I mattered. I know the drinking is a symptom of something much deeper rooted and everything has just got into a hideous mess. Just hope I feel better soon :-(
