Day 5
I've woken up with a sore throat and feeling like I've been on the mother of all benders, not touched a drop.
Hope everyone is well and staying strong
Hugs to all x

Hi everyone

I'm sheepishly returning to BE after not being in a good place for several months.
Feeling hungover but determined this morning. Hoping that today will be my day 1.
Thinking of I post in the morning as a kick starter then I'll hopefully post this evening too saying, day 1 complete 🤞🤞

Hope everyone is doing ok
X

Day 6. Busy day yesterday and didn’t get logged in. I also want to be a NON DRINKER. I accept what I am, and I think that goes a long way . It’s been a work in progress for a few years now and this is the best year yet.

Hey EH, that’s good, given your reservations. As you say numbers don’t really matter it’s one day at a time but going along with a group at a similar pace always helps........well I’ve always found that a bit like a pacemaker in the run as long as you’re not the one to drop off!!

Day 1 complete.
Not getting too excited as I have managed 2 or 3 days a few times recently.
Will take each day as it comes.
For now it's bed time hopefully for some good sleep in preparation for day 2!!

Night night all 💤😴💤

Coming towards the end of Day 6 and something within me is screaming out for a drink tonight - hardest day of the week so far - by a long way. I'll get through it but none of my normal distraction stuff is working that well tonight. I'll get through it and I'll see you all tomorrow. I'd forgotten how hard days like today were!

What’s making it tough. Is it that infamous day Friday. Dig deep. Alcohol, besides stating the obvious is so addictive it ranks up there with some of the most addictive substances on the streets......but this is legal. God only knows why. Well we do know, the revenue it derives for large corporates, government and even a small local retailer. I don’t know what percentage of adults drink in the U.K. but I suspect it is extremely high. We sadly are like the salmon swimming upstream, but for those of us whom make it life does become so much better.

Our delusional thinking coupled with the irritating continuous permission thoughts particularly in the early days make this difficult to navigate but we can do this. I’ve just been down to our local village and the wine bar, pub and restaurants are awash with people starting Christmas. This time I’m not bothered. I’m glad I’m not there because I know where it will end for me. I wanted so much to be able to drink in moderation. Now I don’t want to drink at all. It’s mind altering drug which has caused me an ordinate amount of pain, cost me a lot of money and turns me into a complete dickhead.

So stay strong friends..........that includes me too and tomorrow we will be proud of another day <:)>

Hey Lesians,

No clue what made today tough. Friday was never a big night out day for me - it was just another day. I made it through though.

Up early tomorrow for a long walk with the dog and it’s good to feel so clear headed.
