It isn't easy Twinkle you can be caught unaware at any time.

I was shopping in town and have just had to come home as the craving for wine was really strong, my mouth was watering and I could almost taste it going down my throat. I threw myself in to the nearest taxi and got my a**e back home. It probably didn't help that I was hungry.

Day 11 for me and I'm planning on staying in for the rest of the day as I don't feel strong enough to go out anywhere else.

Keep strong xx

I totally relate Aneres, I get those cravings very suddenly. There´s an image that arises in my head of having a nice glass of wine and feeling it hit my stomach - at that second I am capable of forgetting all the misery the drink causes. And what you say about being hungry - for me that´s a factor in wanting to drink too. I am trying to eat regularly which is NOT a habit of my lifetime, after I have a meal its less likely that a craving will surge it seems. because I love to drink when stomach is empty, it works quicker.

Without hangover and drink in me I am sleeping deeply with nice dreams. And this morning even got up early to take Pancho the dog out and I was cheery, not "oh no another day". Thank you Bright Eye guys!

Try switching images to one of foul tasting POISON (complete with skull and crossbones). It works for me. TC ;)?

maybe this is when you bring the lesser of two evils in. I had a rotten day yesterday and was pretty annoyed by someone and my head turned to drink and then i thought why should i let that flucker turn me to drink. So I had a kebab instead. Not ideal but I still got to feel like I was self medicating without turning to drink. That probably sounds weird but in the pecking order of heroin -> cocaine -> alcohol -> cigarettes -> kebab -> chocolate...kebab is not too bad!

Good morning. Day 14 and I'm happy. Nice walk with my daughter on Mother's Day morning. Then planting in the garden on this glorious day. Early dinner at a favorite restaurant. Shields up but I won't let the EAf ruin how good I feel. Good luck everyone.

I´m at 14 too, on to 3 week mañana. I´m a bit superstitious about counting days as I have quit so many times. Mountainhare that was a very inspirational post. Very queasily familiar too, your description of waking up and drinking, then the waves of continuing till collapse. I have to get it into my thick head that I not only do not need alcohol, but its the worst for me. I have to go to a restaurant later where they are accustomed to serve lots of glasses of great wine. Hunh. Maybe I should avoid it altogether or just have some plan to fill up on water or something alk free, so I always have a glass in my hand. My problem is I don´t get drunk there, only mildly buzzed, but on the way home I will buy a bottle if the urge has been awoken. OK see you guys later.

Day 12.

I've been ok all day but I'm sat here now craving a bottle of red wine. I've put tea on so hopefully that will get rid of the craving.

I'm trying to remember how far I've come in 12 days and thinking how I felt the first few days after stopping, there is no way I want to feel like that again.

The AF is saying to me "it's ok you can have a bottle you've not got work till Thursday, that's plenty of time to recover". Doing my best to ignore it.

Hope everyone's ok xx

Two Week Challenge

Hello everyone
I'm not new to BE, did 3 months sober and now back on day 10. I will never give up the fight. After being clean for that amount of time I now know how great you can feel. Had a small lapse and now back another 3 months or more. Have a great week all.

Hi Farthing, well done on getting to day 8. (::)

Day 14 for me and think I will make it to the three week challenge.

Oh took the bottle bin out for the bin men today and he said he may as well not have bothered as it was nearly empty. I got a really good feeling from that - strange I know but it's usually full (not just from my bottles). Oh has been a great support over the last couple of weeks and has not had a drink. He is having some friends over on Saturday and they will be drinking so I'm going to make myself scarce and go to the pics to get out of the way.

Have a good day everyone xx
