Evening all! Day 1 of Veganuary in the bag - I need a need challenge to kick off this second year of sobriety. So pleased to be here with the experienced Beyonders though not allowing myself even a smidgeon of complacency.

Good job, Nik and Mooths!

Congratulations are in order! Keep up the good work! \:)/ (::) ;)?

Anyone made resolutions? I forgot to write mine down so I think I have already broken my resolve! One of them was to write in my journal more often! Uh oh, where's my journal?

Does anyone else journal?

TC, do you manage every day? I wish I would get in the habit of writing every day!

Another fun thing I started to do: You know those little pocket planners you get in the mail sometimes? I've taken to drawing a little picture in each open block at the end of the day! With colored pencils or gel pens, I've found that it is just kind of fun, a small drawing, I do flowers mostly and then at the end of the month, I have a bunch of thumbnail drawings to look back at and it is kind of cheery!

I took to drawing a bit in my journal too, and putting a sticker or two to brighten it up! It is just a start to drawing that is not too intimidating but satisfying nonetheless!

I always drew stuff as a child to calm myself, and I wondered why I stopped that, because it is really soothing and you find out that you can be creative and do a good job! Give it a try! A good distraction from your worries!  :o ;)?

Yes, I usually manage to write each day. I find it quite nice to end the day writing it up and reflecting on things past and future.

The drawing sounds fun. I can't draw to save my life

I've been journalling pretty much every day for several years :-)

I find it calming, and it helps me to recall and reflect on whatever has happened in the day.

The biggest surprise has been that I seldom read back old entries, but it definitely helps me.

I have a horror of leaving the journal somewhere :? but other than that it’s all good.

I wish i could keep up with a journal but forget to do it daily. I find it really helpful to write and reflect/forward plan and really don't do it enough. Thanks for the reminder guys !

The drawing sounds very creative and colourful Deanna. Again i haven't done any colouring for ages, another grounding and soothing activity. ;)?

I keep a journal, but I forget to do it everyday, it’s nice to look back on though.

Well, I have fancied a small campervan for years, but I’ve taken the plunge, and as a Christmas present to myself, and a gift for being sober for a whole year, I have bought a 1995 Mazda bongo, I’ve already been away and done one night wild camping in Kielder, it was fantastic, so peaceful, dogs loved it, and I was very careful to leave no trace of our stay, only memories.
I can’t wait to be away, hopefully every weekend, with my dogs and my little 4 year old grandson. ;)?

Fiz, that’s brilliant news about your camper van - you finally got one!

Lushie, also brilliant that you have completed five years sober. Inspirational, in fact!
