"I can't stop... Or Can I?'

Well, I was at that point once and the answer was NO! I cannot stop. Then something happened. Honestly, I do not know what it was. It was before I joined BE (Oct 2011, change of account). Something made me sign on here. Oh yes, ups and downs but at least I got on the white-knuckle ride. It still has bumps but the big climb up and first drop? In the past. The scary bit is over. It really does get easier and everybody CAN stop. It can seem impossible at the start but we can all do it. See reasons to drink as excuses to drink? Worked for me. There you go. CBT for free!

Lunar
I am known to possess a pair of very sharply pointed boots Kicked my own a@@@@ on many an occasion.
Why not break today down into small bite sized manageable chunks?. Hour by hour.
You are already thinking ahead to later today and convincing yourself that you will drink.
Stop it!
Focus on this hour and getting through it
What are you going to do for this hour only?
go on write it down
do what you need to do then focus on the hour after that.
During one of these hours you need to draw up a plan of how you will cope tonight, a strategy so to speak
but for the minute you concentrate on getting through this hour, the only thing you cannot do in this hour is drink.....try it

Its so tiring the constant fight, the escalation ..... sometimes its seems easier to just give in and drink, then days weeks months pass. The few cans every couple of nights turns to 6 or more every night, the moment i finish work i reach for a can of cider, 2 drunk before reaching home. Sneaking in a further 2 to drink quickly.

Eventually it spirals out of control and i sit here having missed a days work. I can not lose this job it is my last chance. Its easy to say this in the depth of a hangover, but the last time i managed a period of sobriety was using this site daily.
There is an AA meeting tomorrow night, and i need to schedule another session with a doctor.
There is various drugs he was recommending me and i hope that a combination of all 3 things may help me get my life back before i throw it all away into the bottom of a bottle.

i can stop, i will stop i have to stop :)

Squidger. I don't pretend to have all the answers. Far from it. But today, tonight, I will not drink. Just a few short hours. Tomorrow? Another day. Another dustbin. It can wait. Will you join me now? A sober evening. That is all. A one off. <:)>
