100 Day Kickstart

Post by Topcat »

Some members have requested a thread with a kind of tough love approach to sobriety. Tobin and the Moderating Team are quite happy with this, but wish to make it clear that, although a tougher approach and stern words will be acceptable, intimidation/bullying will not be tolerated in any form whatsoever.

Members posting on this thread must be willing to accept constructive criticism from other members and, indeed, it is to be welcomed from members who have gained sober time themselves and are willing to share their experience/expertise of the pitfalls and proven solutions.

Tobin and the Moderating Team would like to make it clear that the thread will be closed down at the first sign that the above conditions are not being adhered to.

I'm in! Do I start at 12 of 100?

Just counted from my Day 1 to 100 days... 10th May! Bring it on... I'm picturing myself on that day feeling so proud, cyber high fiving you all!

Very excited!

I wonder what this group will end up being called? The tonners? :D

Hope all are well. I've made some serious plans to help me reach 100 days. In a few days, a diet starts properly. Juicing for two days a week and healthy goodness the rest (with perhaps one treat day of a roast dinner or similar). It's a 4-week programme, so that should set me up well. I'm really looking forward to looking and, more importantly, feeling a whole lot better. Once the 4 weeks are up, I'm hoping that I'll feel so much better that I'll do it all again. And again. And so on. ;)?

Saying all that, I've just eaten toad in the hole, chips, carrots, peas, gravy and some homemade ratatouille thing I threw together with a sad-looking courgette I spotted in the fridge. Neither of us particularly like ratatouille and certainly not with gravy, but we have two empty plates. I couldn't even move to the car if I wanted to. Luckily, I don't want to.

What are your plans for the next 100 days?

Hey Mrs H... I'm juicing too but got a bit carried away and had 2 juices and just fruit teas until 6pm... by which time I was headachey and moody. Had a massive portion of very tasty spag bol with loads of extra Parmesan... and feel a million dollars now. So I just need to remember to combine the juicing with proper food. I got super greens powder and goji berries and other stuff today too.

My plan is to be very busy but plan in some decent down time too. I'm starting a run of training programmes around the country which will take me on the road and need early starts and clear thinking and creativity... all things that are ideally suited to a sober brain & body!! So loads of incentive.

Also lots of "start with the end in mind" and picturing myself on the 10th May feeling great about my 100 days!

You knwo I'm a fan of Tony Robbins - found a lovely short video of him doing what he calls and "emotional flood" today - and did it... and it was incredibly powerful. so I plan to do that every few days too! Here it is if you fancy it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smhzRqHkpZs

Have a great weekend!

That clip was incredible Mousey - thank you. Talk about starting the day in positive tears! <:)>

What was interesting was most of my memories were from way back. Before I started lying to everyone regarding my drinking. Reading posts from the long-term soberites, I know that if I stay off the booze, one day I'll start having good things happen again and they will become good memories.

And that's something I want. ;)?

Interesting. We are very nice to each other in the challenge threads. I'm so hard on myself when I slip though, that I like the gentle understanding in other threads.

So I'll be sticking to the challenges, but all the best to the people joining here! (::)

Ok, sign me up for a spot of tough love. Goodness knows I need it. Everytime I slip ( or blow out), I'm disgusted with myself with all the usual feelings, but there's also a part of me that thinks it's ok as everybody struggles & everybody drinks. But they don't do they? & it's definitely not ok.....

You are right Ginnyboss, it is definitely not ok if drinking alcohol is negatively affecting you and those around you. Well done for joining this thread.

Thanks shadow and newt <:)> feel like I'm on a bit of a roundabout at the moment, am managing fine during the week not to drink, the come the weekend start off limiting to 3-4 drinks but that then goes up up up, then the days increase, the wine increases, I stop for a week then start again. I just don't want to start again, I'm tired of it. And yes I definitely want to enjoy an AF summer ;)?

Sammie, being tired of it all is the key thing. I was tired of the cycle of relapse, very tired of it. If you don't want to start the cycle again then you don't have too. It really is that simple.

You are in charge.
