F A Q About Online Counselling

Technical Issues.

Do I need to download or install any software to use your service?
Quite simply, you don't need anything but what you're using right now.

What about other people who use my computer seeing that I've had counselling with you?
You can clear your History, and clear your Temporary Internet Files (or 'Cookies') - both available under the Tools menu, Internet Options section of Internet Explorer or Firefox. We also recommend saving your session transcripts on a removable memory stick, or USB drive (cheaply available in the high street).

Counselling Sessions

How much do sessions cost?
Have a look at our Fees page.

How long does each session last?
For one hour, usually once per week.

Can I get a copy of everything said during the session?
Yes, the transcript of the session will be emailed to you every time.

Is this an AA, 12 step programme?
No, it is not, we use a more modern approach called cognitive behavioural therapy, combined with counselling. This has been proven extensively as the most effective method for alcoholism or addiction, and is now the recognised method used by the NHS.

What about confidentiality, I want to be sure that everything I say is private?
This is very important to us, and is a cornerstone of all counselling practice. Please read our confidentiality policy. You can also remain anonymous if you wish - you don't need to use your real name.

What to do next

Fill in our consultation form, a counsellor will reply to you within two days, then you can pay for your session, and your counsellor will offer you a choice of possible appointment times - including evenings and weekends. You will then be given the login details for the private chat-room.
