Late lounge (& other non-UK locations...)

Postby Mike » 30 Mar 2008 00:55

Some of us turn in late. Some are insomniacs. Some have worries they can't unload.

Others may have had a few drinks, fallen asleep on the sofa, and have just woken up. What do you do ? Do you go straight to bed, put on a DVD, or log on to Bright Eye ?

Or perhaps you live on the other side of the pond where it is now early evening. You know about this site, but you have worked out that all the limeys have gone to bed. So what's the point of posting here if you can't use it like a chat room?

INTRODUCING THE LATE LOUNGE. Specially for you guys and girls who fit into the above categories. There just may be someone on this thread to talk to. Check it out and see if it works.

Hey all,
well actually it looks like I'm the only one up at this hour, so will have a mooch about, check out the furnishings and put some chilled out music on and enjoy just being with my iced OJ.

Hi Natasha

You are never alone with an iced OJ. The furnishings here are basic but comfortable. Best to bring your own music. The company will vary from non existent to scintillating. Right now its roughly mid way between the two. I've just driven home from London where I went to meet an old friend from New York who has been staying in town for a few days. We had a good Chinese meal at a restaurant near Baker Street. Washed down with Diet Coke. How are you coping without booze?

Hi Mike,
it's been an up and down first 8 days I have to say.
I've had a few v small glasses spread over the week, didn't particularly enjoy them, but haven't been wasted - the first time I've gone for a week without drink for goodness knows how long. So it's a good feeling, but I'm sure I'll face bad days and be tempted, but it's early days and it's all about re-learning who I am and what I truly want from life, as I don't want the life I've had for the last 10 years.
Nice place you have here by the way. Comfortable and welcoming. And my OJ was lovely and refreshing!
Might head off to bed though, forgot about losing an hours sleep because of the clocks going forward!
Good to meet you, I've read your posts on here, so good to finally meet face to face as it were.
See you soon, Tash x

Hello Mike,

Noticed Tashes lovely signature line and got thinking about your idea for one line quotes that can uplift and inspire. Why not use as your signature and just change every now and again?

Like the idea of late lounge for all the reasons you listed.

Hi Fiendish,

Thanks for checking out the Late Lounge, but you can't expect it to look good in daylight. It's supposed to be for RON, lateR ON, Get it ? And the decor was all I could afford. I admit we did water down the paint but we are on a water meter here and we had to be careful. Anyway there is a good table in the corner. There's a hole in the carpet and you can see the floor show.

All non alcoholic drinks of course. I got in a supply of non alcoholic Becks from Tesco where the price has just gone down from £3.60 to £2.40 for a six pack. Thats 40p a bottle. Late Lounge price is cost only. Stay here and don't go to the pub where you will pay £2 a bottle. Natasha always has her usual iced OJ. I haven't had too many other regulars yet. In fact I have had no other regulars but its early days, or should I say early nights.

There are no restrictions on opening or closing time, as long as you are not too rowdy logging off.

Catch you later, Mike.

Hi Julie,

I'm glad you like the idea of the Late Lounge.

I like your idea of the signature line, so I have put it into action right away.

See you in the lounge again soon I hope. I can reserve the corner table for you if you like.

Hi Fiendish,

Now I see what you mean. And I thought you were on about the emulsion.

No, the Filipina girls showed up as volunteer hostesses. I didn't advertise the position. It's not that sort of an establishment. They just "popped up", and now no one knows what to do about them. Frankly I would be happier having someone from H & B serving customers in the lounge, but they only pop up on the health related pages.

Anyway, rest assured there is nothing untoward about this gaff.

Hold on, Arthur Daley and Terry McCann have just sauntered in for a beetroot juice, and the Filipinas won't go near them for some reason. I shall have to attend to them personally.

Back in a jiff, Mike.

Signing off now to attend my regular Sun pm meeting. I shall leave the lounge in the capable hands of my international team. May be back later than usual tonight. There is a second meeting which follows on at a local treatment centre. It comes highly recommended and I haven't done that one yet. If I can stay awake for the next 2 hours, I will check out the second one. I'll let you know how I get on if you are at all interested.

Cheers, Mike.

Is anyone waiting to be served?

I didn't make it to the meeting at the treatment centre. By the time I've locked up the hall etc after the earlier meeting, it's too late for the next one. That's why I haven't got there yet. Oh well, maybe next week.

Hi Darcy,
Sorry I had to rush off. Thanks for asking about me. I seem to be doing OK as long as I keep busy. It's been seven months now since I had a drink. They tell me it can be a dangerous time if you start to feel complacent. Constant awareness of what might happen is important. After all, I am only one drink away from where I was in August 07. Then I drank for two weeks after four months of sobriety. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I don't want that to happen again.
I'm glad to hear you are back on course. We can post each other on site any time. If you are fed up for any reason.......

There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that the Late Lounge has been the object of an aggressive attempted takeover by The Groucho Club. We have no evidence of anything like that happening. We will carry on trading as before. No customers.

Cheers, Mike.

Hey Mike,
I have already been to bed and woke up an hour ago unable to sleep so decided to get up and do some work (boy will I regret this tomorrow at work if I don't get back to sleep at some point!).
Got bored of working so thought I'd pop in here and chill out with my usual - iced oj - and listen to a cd.
If there's anyone out there just browsing, don't be shy, come and join me!

Hi Andiel,
Likewise! I'm glad I'm not the only muppet up at this hour! I can't sleep since knocking this drinking thing on the head! What's your excuse? :)
Fancy an iced OJ?

Ok, Brutal honesty here, I have been alone for five years. I have almost forgotten what a woman is really like up close. I flirt, play games but cannot be committed.

I have too much baggage. I am not ready to hurt yet another.

Did any of you watch that link I put up? Massive attack? please do... it's me on a bender, like all of us, so scary- and so wasteful.

On a positive note- I know I can beat this paranoia- with time, to talk to a woman who is "interested" is too difficult, they will want something eventually, I would rather skulk off to a corner, when it's serious.

I just like to be the court Jester at the moment, it's easy ground. :D

Duane,
I still want to put you over my knee and spank your bottom! Oh yes.

It was only a date - not a commitment - and you have so much to offer. You are kind, intelligent, loving, caring, witty, gorgeous and a great cook. Now what more could a thinking woman want on a good night out.

Duane, I think maybe you are hurting yourself more than anyone.

Come here lovely Mr Stokes, and bend over....
