A lot of people are concerned about maintaining privacy and anonymity. That is quite understandable. If it is of concern to you then have a look at:

http://www.torproject.org/

It's free, openware and it stops them out there sourcing and identifying you and where you are. Think about it.

Hi

I am frequently getting the following message which is very frustrating, it can be just when i go to preview if typing a message (it could be 1 line in length at that stage) or when pressing submit when I have typed a long reply. Also when just sometimes trying to get onto another part of the site and I have to close the tab and start again, which still doesn't always work.Safari can’t find the server.

Safari can’t open the page “http://www.brighteyecounselling.co.uk/alcoholic-forum/” because Safari can’t find the server “www.brighteyecounselling.co.uk”.

Does any one know if it is likely be my server or does any one else have this problem?

It is getting really frustrating now !

Hi Brighteye
I frequently see the same mesage when I'm logged in here using my iphone. It's usually a temporary thing and sorts itself out, but I agree it's extremely irritating  It's not always when I'm on BE, it can and has happened on other web sites, but I never have the problem when using my pc, just my iphone.
Maybe some really clever techie person will come along shortly and explain it for us, but meantime, for me, it's another of life's little mysteries

Hi Brighteye,

Try using Firefox, it seems to be less dodgy than Safari, I use Macs too, so yes, I've also had a few problems with Safari similar to what you describe. :?

You could use private browsing each time you come to BE using Firefox. It's in the Tools menu.

Hello

is there any chance you could delete my personal email address off the system - I don't know how to but I would prefer no one saw it! thank you.

VERY CONCERNED

I just googled my user name in error (suppose to put BE) and to my horror it came up with me, the date i joined, location, my posts which you could even click and go straight to.

It must be something to do with optimising the adwords I guess (only understand a little) but can this be removed at all. I am gutted, maybe I should delete all my posts ?

Didn't know who to send this to.

Brighteye .... I can understand how upsetting worrying this is for you, and I've never heard of this happening before, so I will copy this post over to Tobin right now and ask him to look into it urgently.

hi brighteye44.

first off, i'm not a techie and haven't got a scooby what "optimising the adwords" means! i tried googling a few user names though and yours was the only one that i could get to the top of the search, tho not the only one that i got a google hit with a post on here from. it's maybe because your user name is the same as the website name that it's coming up higher in google hits? (but to answer that definitively you'd need a techie...)

but, i'd say that unless you are using the username brighteye44 elsewhere, and that people who know you as you in real life also know you as brighteye44 then i don't really see that there is much of an issue, i.e. nobody can link the real you to the cyber you? everything that we submit to the forum is in the public domain, so not using real names, being vague about your exact location etc is one way to maintain anonymity. you could always change your user name to something that isn't the same as what the website is called - pm any mod to change it i think.

best regards,
sgx

Yes I googled to after sent post and the same.

Adwords are words companies use to get to the top of the google list (well something like that used to work around people who did that) so yes my name is the same as the forum so I think that is it.

Changed my personal details although not many on but still shows in Google not sure at what point that may change if any. Might try and ask someone used to work with but don't want to give too much away.

Yes, don't use this name elsewhere but family would def fit pieces together. Will have a think !

Thanks SG x

For some daft reason struggling to upload pic into posts even when they're below the correct size. Any one any idea's as I though it should just be the same as uploading an image anywhere but it I only seem to get text in the brackets even when I preview.

Thanks
