Ah, but you are better than you were before Arcturus. You want to stop. That is the only qualification you need to succeed.

Sorry to hear of all the troubles and hope that things will be better from now on. Good luck on the challenges. Elton's "Still Standing" was always one of my favourites ;)?

Haven't written coz I feel good for a week, think I don't need to and then relapse. So here I am again: depressed, anxious... Why do I do so well then binge? I'm so tired of myself. When will I stop? I'm fine with one or 2 classes but 1/4 of the time I binge. I MUST STOP. It is when I'm happiest! How I'd that not enough? It's really simple. STOP or do I just quit for good? Is it the only way these binges will stop?
Does anyone have any advice or a similar experience??

hi. this is my life at the moment, I was admitted to hospital 8 weeks ago and underwent detox, felt great and thought it was safe to see if I could handle a shandy at my friends wedding. here I am 2 weeks later and still on the drink, I was drinking more than three bottles of wine a day. now it's up to one with a low percentage of 5% mixed with non alchohol larger to help with cravings. I am wanting so desperately to stop but am terrified of experiencing the same withdraw as before. anyone in this position. it's such a habitual thing that I am finding so hard to change after such an incredible start. I feel so ashamed and do not want to put my partner or family through witnessing that again in the hospital. please tell me there is a way xx

Hello bristol1987, welcome to Bright Eye. There are a couple of articles that might be helpful :

There is quite a bit on Withdrawal here ( in blue highlight) . You may want to read back a bit too and see how others have coped.

I do hope you post again . There is the New members thread to introduce yourself too . Take care .
' Normal ' is just a setting on the washing machine .

Just wanted to wish you the best as well, bristol1987. I came on here a month ago after a 2 bottle of wine a day habit, terrified and with awful withdrawal symptoms (tremors, palpitations, sweating, high blood pressure, exhaustion, nausea, anxiety - just horrible). The good folks on this forum provided a sympathetic ear as well as great advice - one month later and I feel like a different person (albeit one who is terrified of slipping back!). I just wanted to congratulate you on your positive decision, and wish you the very best. Stay strong ;)? !

just woken up after an interesting night sleep. in pools of sweat and crazy dreams bit nothing I couldn't ignore, little but floaty this morning buy waiting as long as possible before I have a drink. I did 4 cans of larger yesterday over 11 hours. today is down to 3 but I am determined to only have it when I need it and not want it! not wanting it now which is good but it's still dangerous to ignore withdrawal and the Dr's advice. so day 2 here I go :)

Hungover again today, it was the wine! Yesterday I had a cricket function to attend with my partner and I was doing ok, I had left the house planning not to drink and managed to stay on the OJ for almost all the day. Then something just gave way, I've no idea what it was but I ordered a red wine at about 6pm after hours of not drinking and the rest is history. Woke up this morning with a stinking hangover and still feel crap now at almost 4pm. Playing the day back in my head, what I should have done is gone home at 6pm instead of staying around people who were getting drunk. But the should'ves and could'ves are no good now. Beating myself up about it again today as I'd been doing ok and haven't been drunk in well over a week. Feeling as though I need to avoid all social situations that involve alcohol now….moan over.
xx
