Being depressed may not be an ‘illness’

A fantastic video on the Guardian today about how women are being over-prescribed anti-depressants, when fluctuations in mood and anxiety levels are quite natural, and can sometimes be explained by your circumstances.

This is so spot on!! I feel like they literally throw anti-depressants at us for any little thing. I was prescribed them for post partum depression with no evaluation (just called it in). They hand it out like candy for the slightest complaint. I find that my depression can be hormonal too. Sometimes I feel like I snap out of it the next day…no need for anti-depressants, I won’t ever take them again!
